Everyone who doesn't believe as I do is going to Hell! Seriously. Some people who believe wrongly are:

All people who don't think that Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist to ever live.

My supervisor and I know, for a fact, that no one can compare to Jimi Hendrix. A young lady (she's only 18) who works with us disagreed. My supervisor and I thought she should be shunned till she saw the error of her ways.

All people who like watching golf. does Tiger Woods '08 on Wii count?
All people who like Valentine's Day.
      All people who hate sushi.
All people who like avocados and guacamole.
All people who like fast food.

All of these people are going to Hell, to burn forever, because they do not believe as I believe, and therefore must be Horribly Wrong.

        Guess I'm gonna burn, then...

Does the occasional "I gotta have a burger and fries from McD's" craving count as "liking fast food"?
I do hate olives with a passion, however.

And don't worry, Jester, unless you disclaim otherwise (as you are wont to do when you actually do have something serious to contribute) I tend to assume off the bat that your are being sarcastic

As for Scary Preacher Man, whatever happened to "judge not lest ye be judged"? I think your response is great, though. Even if some would consider it blasphemous, it gets your point across and maybe it'll make him think next time before he tells some "tattooed freak" that they're going to hell.

*Disclaimer (well, everyone else has one!): Please notice the quotation marks around the phrase "tattooed freak."

          I'm going to hell, too.

But I don't expect people to not act on their beliefs. The truth is, just because someone says they are one franchise of "x" doesn't tell me what they believe. There are 6 billion religions in this world, because there are 6 billion people, so don't expect me to know what you believe. I see how people act, and that's what they are. Just because you're in a garage, as they say.

And I don't expect people to respect my beliefs, either. There is no such rule in existence. If you believe that snowflakes are made of sugar, I don't have to respect it. If you believe that arguing about beliefs is the end of the world, I don't have to respect that either. It doesn't matter one ounce what people believe. If they do it, then it's real. If they believe it, it don't mean a thing.

For all the disclaiming I was expecting something worse. ^^

To be honest if you're actually carrying pamphlets you're already going too far. ;p
hey, I'm guilty of carrying pamphlets... but to be fair I have only twice given them out and that was when the other person asked for one.

In both cases I was on vacation and people asked me where I was from and I told them and they asked they "oh you're from utah, are you mormon" question (that to be honest, is really annoying)... and then they'll start asking a million questions... which is why I now keep the pamphlets with me so I can say "here, this will answer most of your questions and on the bottom is a website you can go to and a phone number you can call if you have more questions" in stead of having to spend 20 minutes giving someone a Mormonism for dummies course.

Sorry I can't figure out how to include quotes from multiple posts without an insane amount of cutting and pasting, so I'll just start with this one and make refrences to the others in prose.

Many people do judge a book by it's cover. They will associate tatooes and unconventional piercings with unsavory lifestyles.
First off, I'm paid judge books by their covers every day at work. There is actually a lot of good infromation there, even more if you know how to read between the lines. Back when books were just covered in decorated leather or cloth that metaphore made sense. It no longer does. It is time to put it to rest.

But, I agree with the point being made. Any aspect of a persons appearance that reflects a choice that the person made is a valid point in estimating that persons character.

Jesters list of arbitrary preferences is more significant than even he realized. No one has ever given me a good reason for religeous beliefs getting special protection from criticism. They are just as arbitrary as what sprots team one supports.

Someone said evangelism isn't bad. Pushy salesmanship for any reason is bad. If you want to set up a table with a sign, fine, buy a booth at a street fair, OK by me, buy commercial time on broadcast TV or radio, good for you. If you accost me on the street, come to my home or bug me at work, you deserve all the bile I can bring up.

Yes, but you are brighter than most. I have in the past made what I thought to be over the top sarcastic posts, only to have people take them seriously, either complaining to me in the thread or privately, or to the moderators about me.

I would if there were any around, but they seem to only come out of the woodwork when the Niners are winning. Which doesn't seem to be a problem these days.

Oh, trust me when I say the items for their ridiculousness, and understood precisely the significance of it.

It sprang from a saying I have had for some time. When the discussion of homosexuality comes up, I have a very simple commentary on it. I don't understand men who want to have sex with men. I also don't understand people who like olives. To me, there is no difference between the two. Just because I don't understand why people like or don't like something doesn't make me necessarily able to judge them for being right or wrong for it.

Wow, that was way too serious. Someone pass me the beer bong!

What I hate about people, is who will criticize others; who do not believe the same way as him or herself. Or the people who will criticize others, becuase they don't understand why that person has their reasons to why they believe in a God.

                            Just to clarify:

I do understand that the way I dress will cause people to make assumptions, because it's true of everyone. I also want to point out that my eyebrow ring is very small (none of my managers have mentioned it and they're not allowed on the floor) and my tattoo isn't very visible, that mixed with my work uniform (and makeup for that matter) doesn't place me in the "goth" category. But personal ideals on stereotypes aside, I understand how this makes me look, which is why at first I just smiled and thanked him- seeing as he meant well, and he was trying to do me well in his eyes (save me). However it was when he started assuming on my lifestyle choices, which I cut out to save space, that I got angry. Also, like I said, he wasn't an extremist, just a jerk.

Disclaiming was there to make sure people understood that it wasn't his beliefs I was upset about, it was the way he handled himself. Religion is a very touchy subject, and I didn't want to offend anyone.
