not knowing where you are I'm not sure if this helps, but if you are anywhere near Salt Lake or Charleston Intercontinental is almost always hiring and at least the management in salt lake are pretty good at looking at performance rather than politics...
and for the record, I have calls drop all the time, people go into deadzones for their phones, there are technical problems at the hotels forwarding calls... and even when the agent disconnects the call often times it is accidental (we have 3 different models of phones and it isn't hard to hit the wrong button when you have to use a different work station).

Something tells me the whole dropped call business was just an excuse.
My thoughts exactly. You would think that something as trivial as a dropped call would only be a warning the first time. Something definitely is not adding up here. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Take a couple days, & then get out there I find something even better than that job. Good luck!

Came in really late..I don't have anything to add that everyone else didn't already say...so here's a few

I hope everything works out with your new endeavors. I look forward to your new stories.

If you need anything, I have a PM box that's open, too.
I will not shove “it” up my backside. I do not know what “it” is, but in my many years on this earth I have figured out that that particular port hole is best reserved for emergency exit only. -GK

Bummer! Now I have to learn how to snark at my customers from some less experienced CSR!

Eh, you may have saved two newbies by taking the firing, since they can keep them if your 4 year pay was high enough, so you get potential good karma for that!

Do you have any small local carriers? I work for one and know they are few and far between anymore, but if they do exist they'd jump at having you. And as a small company, everyone gets to work on more than one thing, so no boring 'same old, same old' routine. Just a thought.

          Take care, and good luck!

(Do I have to rot in hell if I say I hope you get another CS job, cuz I love your posts?)

Hi, long time fan here. :: offers a cookie:: I'm sorry that this had to happen to you. I also feel sorry to whoever is gonna get your calls now.

If it helps any, the mental images I get once in awhile from your posts have gotten me through difficult times.

I actually did that a time or two

Also, the phrases "HULK ANGRY!" or "HULK SMASH!" were used with reckless abandon. Countless coworkers over the years would hear the words "That's it! I officially give up!" or "I'm done!" I'm a master of the world's smallest violin and "No" is practically my battle cry. And I'm sure that even though I only moved to a new desk a few months ago, there's likely an indentation shaped like my forehead on it.

              Ah, memories.

I don't have too much to add that hasn't been said other than and maybe you should take it as a sign to just up and move so you can work with Gravekeeper. You've got the experience, a good reference that works there, and I'm sure he'd be happy to share the 867 folks with you.

                  Kara,

The number of replies on this thread tells me that I am not the only one who will dearly miss your posts. What happened to you was beyond unfair, but if it comforts you, know that something similar has likely happened to most of us on this board, myself included.

Best of luck finding a new job right away. And I hope you still have stories to tell.

I'm late to the party again, but everybody's given such great responses already that I feel perfectly justified in saying no more than this:

BIG hugs Kara, as hard and as often as you want them. You are by far one of the classiest people I have ever had the pleasure to be acquainted with. T-Mobile should be kicking themselves for letting you go (and don't worry, they will be soon!). You are awesome, and you're going to find something a hundred times better very soon!

People are dumb. I'm sorry. You will find a better job, where people are smart enough to hang on to someone like you.

Think of when WNBC screwed over Howard Stern in '85 and fired him after making the station number 1. He went to K-Rock a month later and did so well and beat WNBC so bad in the ratings that the whole station crumbled and the company that owned it was forced to sell it at a multi-million-dollar LOSS!

Remember, karma DOES work in these instances.

wow, I don't know how to respond other than to say that sucks. but seriously, good for you keeping a positive attitude. From what you've said they've made a mistake and they'll have to deal with it. I'll bet they'll have to go through hell just to get someone who knows all you do and is capable of dealing with customers like you do. Their loss really, new opprotunity for you. Go get 'em!

Being as I am incredibly late to this thread I will share my thoughts (if I may)
                                1) T Mobile (or at least the local management) have just lost an incredible member of staff from their payroll, they will miss you.

                                2) I can see no reason whatsoever for the company to fire you, sue their arses off!

                                3) Prison work will be stressful ( as is CS work) but in a different kind of way, however if you can put in 4 years in a Mobile Phone billing centre and deal with the fucktards in there without beating them to a bloddy puddle spread over several states I'm sure you can cope with prisoners.

                                4) Kara, you've been shafted but I'm sure in the greater scheme of things this will open plenty of doors with lots of opportunities, go break a leg.

PS you're right about state jobs having lots of benefits if even only a stopgap it'll be worth it.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.
