  • Seriously?

    Okay, this one is a slight role reversal for me. I'm used to having to fix things for customers when they have a wrong order or if they are not satisfied with their meal. Having worked a carry out Chinese place for over a year gives you good practice. I was always nice about it and fix everything as fast as possible, so I'd think at other carry out places, Chinese or not, that it would be the same. Boy was I wrong.

    Me and a friend went out to lunch and we ordered from a local pizza/pasta place. It was to go since we decided to take it back to my place, so we went window shopping and came back a half hour later and get the food. We get to my place which is less than 5 minutes away and sit down and tuck in. I got the pasta lunch deal, a pasta, cheese garlic bread, and a cookie. I get home there's no cookie and there's cinnamon in the pasta not a bit of sugar in it, but cinnamon to the point you can clearly see it in the white sauce. So I call to see if I could get a new one sent out. I get one of the kids there who can't authorize anything and am told to call back in half an hour when the manager was in. Well, the manager isn't in when I call back. Neither is he when I call back another half hour later.

    Now, I'm usually pretty patient with people in food. I worked it I know it's a pain, but what I got was just total BS. The manager calls me and I tell him what the problem is and here's the conversation:

    Me= ex-goddess of the underground Chinese carry out world
    SM= sucky manager

    SM: Well, I'm not going to do anything about it.
    Me: So even though I did not receive an item I paid for and I am unsatisfied with what I did get, you're not going to do anything about it?
    SM: Yeah, I'm not going to do anything. ::starts laughing::
    Me: Well, then you should be receiving a letter from the Better Business Bureau in a few days. Good bye.

    The fact that he laughed about it makes me question whether or not it was actually the manager. But otherwise I agree that was completely sucky and unprofessional.

      I thought about that, but I know that there are only two kitchen guys and a manger on any day. I'd talked to both of the kitchen guys and it was a much older sounding voice. :: I'll get over it and start getting food from the other local place.

        Everybody answers to somebody. I bet that manager answers to an owner.


        The BBB is nice, but they really do squat in the grand scheme of things. The complaints have to be excessive before they even issue an negative rating.

        If the food was to the point of being unconsumable, due to the cinnamon, I would suggest perhaps complaining to the local health department.

        It's one thing to serve bad food, it's another to intentionally make food bad.

          and if the business is not a member of the BBB they do nothing

            After the guy laughed at me, I would've gone back to the restaurant and requested again. He'd have one chance before I made a scene and dumped my crappy food onto something like his credit card machine or computer keyboard.

              if he laughed at me i would have gone down there too demanded to speak to the amganer made the request again, and if nothing was done demanded the number for next hgher up, no distruction on my part, i would also tell them i would be telling every possible person saw about them until either they made it right or i was informed they were fired

                I found out that my step-father is acquainted with the owners some what, so I'm going to try making a complaint to her directly. I like the health department suggestion. Before yesterday I had never been inside their building, and I'm pretty sure there are a few health code violations going on there. Just minor things, but violations none the less. Thanks for the suggestions.

                  Hmm, because acting sucky and opening yourself up to liability for damages would get you new food?

                  Yes, the guy was horrid. But that doesn't justify damaging equipment he likely doesn't own in the first place.

                    That is true. They do not do shit. They will just send a letter to the company. Happened to us, when the customer couldn't understand about our prices.

                        I'm still trying to figure out why there would be cinnamon in my pasta, but I do know some people who will add a little sugar to fettician alfrado. Which is what the manager tried suggesting I was tasting instead of cinnamon.

                          yeah that's insane, i can't stop laughing. but seriously if there were piles of cinnamon in my pasta i'd be seriously pissed off. they obviously are doing something very wrong and you should have somebody look into them.

                            I hope you didn't throw it out. I'd be taking it down to speak with the owner and show them what you received. If the owner didn't do anything about it, then give up and spread the word.

                            I suspect that someone was fooling around, and didn't want to take the blame. Most likely the "manager" you spoke with is nothing of the sort.

                            Do let us know what happens.

                              Sadly, I did toss it out, but really I have the feeling that nothing would have happened if I did take it up there. Anyway we're having vechical problems and it's a good 30-40 minute walk to the place and I'd have to cross a bloody awful highway. I'll post if I get anything back from the BBB or the health department. Me and a friend at work were talking and she was telling me about some of the gross stuff that was happening when she ordered food and we decided to both put in reports.
