So, I want a discount

We sell at wholesale prices, which is reasonable as we are a wholesaler.

Some people get a discount for volume or high sales. Others try for it. One call today pretty much ran as follows:

"I'd like to see if I can get a lower price on these products. My account manager? He handles that? Well, do you think I could get a discount? I know I haven't ordered in over a year. I usually get two sacks of this, and a couple of the other, but if I bump it up to four sacks of this and four of the other, do you think I could get a lower price?"

I laughed in his ear, but I was polite about it.

"Try multiplying that by about a hundred, sir, and you're getting warm."

Actually, I should have added the saga of Chuckles the Clown. That's not his real name, but he was a genuine clown with a travelling circus.
