  • "EMPTY YOUR POCKETS!!!!!"

There was a doozy of an incident at the service desk today. I did not witness this but was told about it several times afterwards (the cashier this happened to was - quite understandably - very upset about it).

Woman comes up to pay and placed a copious amount of cash on the counter (I'm told approximately $300) which she then lost track of.

So rather than do something sensible such as checking her pockets or purse, she IMMEDIATELY leapt to the conclusion that the cashier STOLE IT!!

For the record, this particular cashier is our best cashier (she was Associate of the Month recently), is extremely nice, and would NEVER, EVER steal from a customer.

The SC was SCREAMING at the cashier. "YOU STOLE MY MONEY! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!!! EMPTY YOUR POCKETS!!!!!! I KNOW I HAD THIS MONEY!!! I JUST GOT IT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT TODAY!!!!! You say you don't have it? THEN YOU NEED TO FIND IT NOW!!!!!

After ripping into the cashier for God only knows how long having barely stopped for a breath, she realized that she had the money IN HER HAND the ENTIRE TIME!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, the woman didn't apologize for both making a scene and falsely accusing the cashier of theft.

All at once I'm glad I wasn't there, but I wish I was. I will not hesitate to jump in and defend the cashiers from loonies like this. I'd have loved to have seen the money IN HER HAND and say "you mean THAT money? Then tell her that she needs to apologize for calling my co-worker a thief (even if it would have gotten me in trouble).

If I'd been that cashier I would have...punched her, in all probability. I'd love to say that I'd have kept my cool and verbally reduced her to a quivering lump of moronitude and spit, but I'd have punched her.

wow, not only was she oblivious, she was also refusing to accept responsibility, act mature, and apologize for flying off the handle....but what do you expect, that lady's just one of the many typical people in the world that give the USA a bad name.

No apology after that? That woman needs to get banned.

That's almost the worst part of it. If you're going to be a crazy, evil, soulless bitch, then you should at least admit it.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

Nice of the management to step up and escort the whack-a-loon out of the building.

At that point I would've deleted the transaction and told her to go to another till because I would refuse to continue serving her. I don't care how much trouble I would get into.

That behaviour was disgusting. You don't accuse the cashier without checking every other route first or without evidence, and if you do and find out you're wrong you apologise until you're red in the face.

What a disgusting waste of flesh!

As far as I know, this whole thing was over and done with before a manager could be summoned. In fact, I heard about this at the same time the manager-on-duty did.

I would've done two things, but I'm not sure in what order.

One would be laughing my ass off at the customer.

The other would be comforting the accused yet innocent.
