  • Is this like "revenge" from India???

    For some strange reason, I have been getting a bunch of SC with an Indian accent. As if they are calling in just to piss our call center off, or something?

    Most of them have either a camcorder or camera and do not know how to use it or is totally confused as to what the camera is supposed to come with.

    I even had some that purchased a plasma tv and wondering about using them in India - PAL and voltage issues....

        Or unless they have accents that no one who doesn't speak their language would have no hope of understanding? (Not sucky, just extremely annoying / frustrating...)

          I think the OP was getting at the fact that so many americans complain about having to talk to call center employees in india with thick accents and now the tables have turned and us employees are having people with thick indian accents calling them (and likely hanging up and complaining about those people with damned american accents that are so hard to understand).

            I don't see where the sucky part is either, and I really don't think ripping on someone because they have an accent is cool at all.
            Sometimes life is altered.

              Why? Because they're making you do your job and answer questions?

              Because they have accents?

              Either way your complaint is pretty unreasonable.

                I don't really understand the complaint, either. Maybe it's the way you worded it?

                I agree with smileyeagle's assessment, but the way you worded it, you have failed to paint a picture of customer suckiness.

                I think you're saying that all these people are calling in with pretty minor complaints, possibly already covered in their instruction manuals if they bothered to actually look, or they are asking inane questions that you shouldn't be expected to know the answer to, and it's odd to you, because suddenly, the calls all seem to be from people with Indian accents, as if your call center has suddenly been rerouted or something. Am I close?

                (Still not entirely sucky, though. )

                  If only people would read their manuals, it has all the important information including what buttons do what, what is included in the box and golly gosh: A troubleshooters guide that 90% will solve the SC's stupid questions!!

                      I do see the irony. But it will be years before the american economy sags enough for the jobs to come back from over seas.

                        Wow. How is this even a post?

                        I've worked in call centres for 6 years, and in my multicultural town we get lots of Indian immigrants who work in call centres because that was the last job they had at home.

                        I've had sucky customers with every conceivable accent, but its not the accent that's sucky. Sure, its irritating when someone doesn't understand what you are saying, when their children lie to you about their identity to protect a parent who doesn't speak the language and doesn't want to have to get an interpreter on line, but seriously.

                        And considering the racist bulls**t that I saw my workmates deal with every day (including a very well-spoken Kenyan guy being told that he didn't speak English) I don't think they need that on the other end of the telephone as well.
