Would have loved to see that (minus the slaughter/dead cows/bloody-ness though).
Be like the flower that perfumes the very hand that crushes it.

You'd think they'd figure that, "Hey, these guys do a lot of hard physical labor for a living. Maybe it wouldn't be best to fuck with a group of people that are a whole hell of a lot bigger and stronger than we are, outnumber us, and know the layout of the building!"

Sounds like their common sense train derailed.
Forget bigger or stronger - it's a slaughterhouse! You know a building full of people who make their living by *KILLING* and then *CUTTING AWAY* living animals. The only place dumber to hit would be an army base, police station, or the FBI.

On second, considering how the union was working and the location/time frame the mob probably still had their fingers in the system. The mob did not like people robbing them, they were very lucky to go to jail instead,

from the magic meat faries of course.
they're grown in cute little gardens.

the shit part is kinda icky but... in a way i'm kinda curious too. cos i like beef and don't deny it comes from cows.

and for the stomachs... hey you never know. i once found an article over at discover magazine's website all about what cows get used for beyond just leather and food. the list included things like toothpaste (yep you put cowparts in your mouth to clean it!), medications, even plastics (a good point for people who use plastic shoes to avoid killing cows... you might still be wearing cow parts...it's just not as obvious).

Edit: removing earlier question cos i dont want the thread locked. (sorry i really didn't know)

Edit 2: I found the link to the article. Clicky at your own risk - there's a couple of pix of internal organs. also the list is pretty long, so... if you don't wanna know, don't clicky. http://discovermagazine.com/2001/aug/featcow/

To be honest I don't think their train left the station. Wow holding up a late 70s union run slaughterhouse.......yah thats brilliance in action.

                  Wow.

                  Wow.

                  Wow.

Actually, just as an aside, is the word abattoir used in the US? I've seen a fair bit of the meat industry here, from birth to death of the animal, and I've never encountered the term "slaughterhouse".

Cow stomachs = Tripe. or Menudo in Mexico.. My little Italian Nana used to make tripe for my Dad.. Not my thing but it's a delicacy... I guess....

Please keep discussion (OP included) to the suckiness of the purchasers of said meaty by-products. One more reference to PETA's politics or religious ties (or, for that matter, meat-eaters and, let's say, Zoroastrianism) and this thread is closed.

Best thwarted-robbery story I've heard in years! May I have permission to repost elsewhere?

Please do not EVER make a post like this without a disclaimer making people aware of disturbing and graphic details of animal slaughter.

Many of our members are very sensitive to that type of thing.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

In colloquial parlance, abbattoir is not used. As a matter of fact, it has some wonky connotations in popularity.
Slaughterhouse is almost exclusively used in common parlance, especially in relation to the Chicago meat industry.
