Today, our gift card system was down which I found out when I tried to purchase a couple items with a gift card. Luckily, I had cash on me.
A while later, one of the checkers had a customer who insisted on using a gift card. Since it was an express line, I had to cancel the order and rering it on one of the service desk registers so the checker could keep the line going. I had to page the assistant store director a couple times since I couldn't get through to the customer that our system wasn't accepting gift cards at the time. Luckily, the assistant store director got through to him and the customer paid with cash.
