Quick background - I work second shift, doing dispatch for radio equipment. Meaning, customer calls me, tells me their problem, tells me whether it's an emergency (priority 1) or not (priority 2 or 3) and then, if it's an emergency, I call the shop.
Every night, I get a minimum of 1-2 people asking me "and what priority is this ticket?" Usually, I get even more than 1 or 2. And I'm always polite when I respond, "priority 1, sir."
But in my head? I'm going
because I wouldn't have paged you if it weren't. I'm sure it's a sleep-addled brain thing, as we sometimes wake them up...but still.
I told a co-worker tonight that I'd like to start responding "No, sir, it's actually a priority 3, I was just bored and wanted someone to talk to, so I had them page you out in the middle of the night!" and see how they respond.
