Well, thanks for clearing up the Hustler point. I wouldn't allow that either.

My son is 14 soon to be 15 and I just can't be angry over him having some nudie mags. Now peeing porn would be a whole different issue.

My point is that as a parent you have to accept that your teen is changing into an adult (not an adult yet- but changing into one) and if you don't allow them ANY outlet then you're probably going to have trouble.

Being a parent of a teen is hard. You have to let the rope out some to let them grow- up but you have to still know when to snap that rope back.
It's kind of like driving really fast on a foggy mountin road- by the time you SEE the cliff it may be too late... but you have no brakes anyway.

Now, I haven't personally seen a Hustler in many, many, many years so I'm not sure if it's nudie or porn?
I believe the comedy routine I heard about it was "Now, don't worry, this will all be in good taste.

"By the way, can you wrap your legs behind your head?"

NightAngel: It's both, very suggestive nudity and lots of porn. I think they have stories and dirty cartoons, too, but I don't remember exactly.

I feel the need to defend Hustler Magazine here.

While there are in fact magazines that feature all kinds of, shall we say, kinky behavior, my experience with Hustler from my teen years was that it was explicit in showing intercourse between the models, and was definitely less artsy than, say, Playboy, it did not, as I recall, go too far beyond the norm. I never saw any peeing porn or anything scatalogical (please don't make me define that term!), I don't recall much hardcore sadomasochism-in other words, they had models dressed in leather and such, but did not show them beating each other or doing anything beyond playful that would be painful, even though many people enjoy that. Was it pornography? Yes. Was it something I would object to my child having? That would depend on the age AND the maturity of the child in question. (The two are NOT the same thing.) Would it be something I think might be a good educational tool for a teenager? Honestly, I think it would be MORE educational than Playboy, which merely shows naked women as art, not as people, for the most part. Would I buy it for my child? Assuming I thought they had attained the right age and maturity, as stated above, yes. Far better that I buy that for them than they steal it (as I did as a teenager) or learn from other sources that I cannot control. To me, also, it would be far healthier to be exposed to the type of content in Hustler than in many of the violent movies, tv shows, music and video games currently deemed "acceptable" for children today.

This is one more situation where I am very thankful to be an uncle and not a father.

Then why not get him a national geographic and let him look at the boobie pictures? I'd hope a 12 year old boy wouldn't need to be looking at pics of girls peeing all over everything to get off. Besides, maybe he'd read some more edifying articles.
That's true, and I don't think Playboy is that bad either.

I wonder if she ever did end up going to the 'Beer Store' and buying Hustler? If she was really that dull and didn't know what it was, could you imagine what her reaction would be?!!?
This area is left blank for a reason.

have to put my 2 cents in. I'm 36 years old, I was given my first playboy collection BY MY PARENTS30 years ago. you do the math.

now I think I'm a pretty well adjusted adult, I'm not a pervert (don't listen to my wife :P), and happily married for 7 years with no itch.

letting your child view SOME things if you talk to them will not hurt them but hustler I won't even touch as an adult.

I was also the only kid who never went through the "girls are icky" stage.

                  Yeah....if she knows where to buy it, she must know what it is maybe she's teaching him about the birds and the bees? >.>;
I can't help thinking about one Larry the Cable Guy did on one of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour DVDs, about a young relative of his who was in hot water with Dad for having sex with his teacher.

                  The kid was home-schooled.

I *really* hope it was just a joke!

Here's a conversation I had with my oldest son's father a couple of months ago:

Dad: "Guess what I did today?"
                    Me: "What?"
Dad: "I found and threw out our son's nudie magazine collection."
Me: "Sorry, not surprised. Really though I'd rather him be looking at that than be out making us grandparents."
                    Dad: "True."

We have since accepted that our son is human and have decided that having a couple of magazines with naked women is better than what he COULD be out doing...
I like that conversation. VERY true (coming from someone who became a great aunt YEARS before she should have ).

I think the woman should have been more discreet with buying the mag for her son. She should not have let it been a public discussion while her son was present. Had the cashier been ultra-conservative, they may have copied her license plate number down and notified the authorities.
It's rather like buying smokey treats for your still-underage child. If you MUST do it (and I don't totally approve of it, for all that I smoke), do it discreetly. WITHOUT THE CHILD WITH YOU!!!!!

I'm glad I have at least 12-13 years before I have to deal with this.

A married man doesn't need porn.

Well, a married woman just might.

See, up until I got married myself, I thought that was some kind of joke.
