  • Ummmm, No?

Hello! I'm new here and I just thought that I'd post one of the BIGGEST
    pains where I work...
I work as a Sales Clerk at a UPS Store, that is UNITED PARCEL SERVICE.....
Wellll, at least once a day, we have people comming in trying to ship Fed-Ex, Now mind you, that the SIGN outside the store does read : 'The UPS Store', when you walk in, there is also a banner that repeats the outside sign, and last but not least, THE shirts that the employees wear have UPS Store, and a UPS sign on them.....
None the less, they still walk right through all of that, and ask to ship Fed-Ex, when I tell them that this is the UPS Store, and we are unable to ship Fed-Ex packages, they actually feel the need to get S***** with me, I even had one of those special people tell me that I was full of s*** and that she had been to another UPS Store, and was able to send out a package Fed-Ex through there ((Which is a LIE, because UPS Stores are restricted to UPS only.. HENCE THE NAME!))
    *sigh*

unfortunately, you were stuck with a low watt bulb, and being such, the various clues didn't sink in...no sign, banner, flashing lights or dancing bears would have gotten the message through, i'm afraid.
    look! it's ghengis khan!
Sorry, but while I can do many things, extracting heads from anuses isn't one of them. (so sayeth the irv)

Sure you can ship Fed-Ex. The customer just has to pay UPS shipping to the Fed-Ex store

I had a similar problem. I went to the fruit store and they simply refused to sell me steaks.

Yes, these ppl are low-grade idiots. They're arguing over the obvious. It's the ones who try to get you on the technicalities who are the experts.

Just a guess here, that dimwit probably had gone to one of those mail stores where you can ship UPS, Fed-Ex, USPS, etc. You know, those same stores where you can buy cell phone accessories, gift wrap, and pay your water bill. But because she had seen the UPS logo there, she assume that that was a UPS store, or some such equally idiotic crap. Because anybody with the educational level of a gnat knows that UPS and Fed-Ex are competitors, and there just ain't no way you're getting a Whopper at McDonald's!

I had a similar experience. I went to my local cable company when I wanted to switch over to Direct, asking them if they sell the equipment I would need. I can't believe they didn't have it!

                      I sell video games.

I once had a customer come in with a broken Xbox and then proceed to ask if it was possible for us to order a replacement for him...FROM ANOTHER STORE! Not another in the chain I work for, but another store like a Circuit City or a Wal-Mart.

Why do some people think all stores are friendly with one another and all work together in a nice shiny happy circle to keep the customers happy?

Oh I just have to share this story with you (ok, so it's really off topic, but it's in the same genre . . .kinda).

My husband and I were in our local Post Office, and were in a pretty good sized line. Well, there was a lady ahead of us and she a pretty good sized box (I'd say 1.5' x 1.5' square). And considering it's a big sized box, she couldn't be bothered to carry, so every time the line moved forward, she'd kick the box forward with her foot (fairly gently, not too hard) - plus this box isn't taped up.

She got to the front and a CSR opened up (sorry, I don't know what to call them). Anyway, she picks up the box and takes up it to the guy and asks him if he could tape it up for her. He says, "well, we don't really do that here, I could use the Priority Mail tape, but then you'll have to ship it Priority Mail." She says that's fine and rearranges the contents of the box quickly. The items are fairly small and there's no padding, newspaper, packing peanuts inside the box at all.

She just threw her items into large box, didn't cut down the box at all and took it to the Post Office, and it's not up to the CSR to make sure you're item is packaged properly either (so I'm not blaming him in any way).

What's most important is what was inside the box . . . (my husband caught a quick gander while she was rearranging), it looked like two very expensive (possibly porcelain) dolls. Isn't that sad? I mean, even if they weren't porcelain or glass, what if the box would have gotten wet? or crushed? or dropped?

That's kinda like going to the grocery store and asking them to have someone fix your brakes on your car or something. It just doesn't happen.

Because people are idiots. And you know this. And yet...you still ask the question.

                              *sniggers*

I work for your direct competition, I listened to a customer bitch about that company for 8 minutes before he would let me set up an account for him.... shut up dude

youd think people who are paying those kinds of prices would be a little more polite

by the way, the reason he may be confused (and arrogant and rude..) is because fedex DOES use UPS sometimes....for rural packages, quoted from fedex.com

"FedEx SmartPost picks up (or accepts drop shipments), provides line haul, and delivers the packages to a USPS facility for final delivery by a postal carrier."

but you HAVE to send through a fedex location

try explaining that one to a customer whos paying our prices and sees a UPS van pull up!!
