No, it does NOT work that way! (longish)
Back when I worked and CCity I'd occasionally help out at the 24/24 counter as the people who worked there usually didn't know where most stuff was for the pick-ups and I was familiar enough with every dept. that I could find stuff quicker then they could. Considering the issues we were already having with 24/24 thing, I figured they needed the help.
Now, I'll be the first to admit that there were a lot of problems with how that whole thing was run. However, us lower rung folks did what we could to make it run as smoothly as possible and placate any customer complaints, of which there were many.
Now, of all the different complaints, there were two that were just dumb.
Complaint the first: "I shouldn't have to wait in this line./I should get a gift card because I've been in this line for over 24 minutes."
Well, gee, what do you want me to do, tell everyone else not to use the 24/24 deal so you can have a more expedient exit? We have a specific line just for people picking up their orders so they don't have to wait on the sometimes colossal main line so we can get them in and out as fast as they can.
I mean, why can't you just be happy you don't have to go looking for the item yourself?
And as the policy says, you only get a gift card if the item you ordered isn't ready for you within 24 minutes, not if you had to wait on line with everyone else who ordered.
Complaint the second: "I had to wait 48 minutes for my order, I should get two $24 gift cards/a $48 gift card."
Look, it sucks that this area is so poorly managed and that we didn't have the item you were looking for, but if we give you an extra gift card, that's petty theft and the person who did will loose their job. If you really want it, take it up with the managers.
Though, I will kindly point out that the policy indeed says that we will reward you with a $24 gift card and that we cannot give out extra cards/money for every 24 minutes you had to wait.
