I haven't had a story I felt was worth posting in quite a while because for some reason, the phone calls have been moderately normal lately. But this one just snuck in under my radar. My boss just took this one and thank God it was her because I wouldn't have been able to handle it.
Boss: "Newsroom, this is Boss."
Human: "Hi, I need to speak to Reporter 1."
Boss: "She's not in at the moment, would you like to leave her a voicemail?"
Human: "Oh, I can't do that, I don't have a computer."
(I was watching Boss during this conversation and I actually SAW her brain reboot.)
Boss: "No, sir, a VOICEmail, not an e-mail."
Human: "Yeah, I don't have a computer, I can't do that. Could you take a message for me?"
Boss: "Uh.....let me give you their answering machine."
Human: "Oh, okay, thank you!"
Boss: *transfers, looks at me* "Ugh."
Me:
Well, not everyone can be up on the most modern technical terms...
