The other night my girlfriend and I were in walmart getting the oil changed in the car. While we were waiting in line to pay this woman walks up to get her keys and you can clearly see she is holding a lit cigarette. The guy at the counter who is getting the keys tells her she can't smoke in the building and she responds back that she had put it out on her shoe. You could still see the smoke coming off of it and smell it. Everyone had a laugh after she left.

Quoth crazylegs View PostBefore the smoking ban came into effect we at the music store had a ban, but no signage, so very occasionaly people would wander in as they claimed 'there was no sign'

Unfortunately, most smokers have no idea just how bad smoke smells. Not really their fault, they're used to it.
I love the smoking bans ... means that I can go places where I couldn't before.

Every once in a great while, someone would wander into the gas station with a lit cigarette. I kind of did abecause I've never seen any type of gas station where smoking was allowed. All I said was "Uh...you can't smoke in here..."
That also happened at the first restaurant I worked at. Non smoking. Period. Tourists were the most guilty of walking in with lit cigarettes and barking at us to seat them in "smoking". You can't smoke in any restaurants around here.....do you not read signs? Oh wait...nm.You really need to see a neurologist. - Wagegoth

Never stopped it in my centre, though we get the smell wafting in often since we are at an entrance, and most of the staff from other stores that smoke choose to smoke out the front of our store window, despite the clearly marked No Smoking signs (which are frequently ripped off).
No bother to any of us that work in my shop, its actually a source of amusement as we find that a lot of management of one of the supermarkets in the mall just sit out their, chat and smoke all day.. and don't seem to do much else.- Boochan

Personally, I like the bans, even though I'm a smoker. Don't smoke in my home as it is, and having to smoke outside just means I smoke less. Don't get why some folks don't understand the "common sense" bans though - the mechanic shops, the gas stations and the like.

Before they instituted the 100' rule here (no smoking w/in 100' of any building), you just couldn't smoke inside the buildings. We still had problems; we used to get smokers outside, parked right next to the air intakes.I'm sorry, the person to whom you were speaking has been replaced by a recording.
