  • I got to kick people out!

Ok, last one for tonight. (I keep remembering things from this week lol )

This birthday party comes in and gets 7 lanes. DIRECTLY in front of the front-desk. It's not a kid's party though, it's for people in their twenties.
It's actually for a guy who's a regular and a pretty cool guy, so I felt kinda crappy doing this, but seriously, we can't have stuff like this going down.

One girl goes up to the bar, gets two pitchers of beer and SIX glasses (She's over 21). Comes back to the party, and starts pouring drinks for people at her table.

Problem is, none of them look like they're 21 (except her of course). So we watch, and sure enough, they're all drinking. So the manager tells me to go over and check their ID's.

I walk over and and point out all 5 of em. Check all their IDs, and sure enough, FOUR of them are underage. One of the guys in fact was FIFTEEN. So they get ONE warning, if any of them except the two girls who are over 21 take even one more sip, they're done, the entire table has to go.

So we watch em, and nothing happens. Then my manager walked away for a sec, and I see the fifteen year old pick up a glass of beer and drink it.... idiot.

I buzz back to my manager really quick, and he says "Ok, that's it, get rid of em."

I shut the lane off, walk out to em, and kick out the whole table. Of course they complain, the one girl who bought the beer actually had the gall to ask why I was kicking her out as well since she's old enough to drink.

Me: "Simple, you gave them the alcohol, that's illegal, you're done, leave."

I then picked up their pitchers of beer and poured them out in front of them.

They leave, while bitching up a storm. Afterwards the guy who's party it was came up and asked me why I kicked out the table.

Me: "Cause there was 4 underage drinkers at the table."
    Him: "... seriously!? ****ing dumbasses."

He then went back to his party and had a great time.

I mean how dumb can you get... drinking underage, in a public place, RIGHT in front of area where all of the employees are standing... and then CONTINUING to do it, after we we're INSANELY generous to even give you a second chance.

And they didn't even have the "we were drunk" excuse

Glad that the regular understood...I'm almost inclined to wonder how he could make friends like that, then I took a look at my own

You guys give them a second chance?! You might want to re-think that policy. I've done a lot of bar/concert security before, you are taking on a HUGE liability by just giving them a warning. If they go out and get hurt, their story will be that you checked their ID's and let them stay and drink. That is not going to go over well for you, trust me. It doesn't matter what you tell them, you are not in a position to give warnings.

            Awesome, but question:

Why didn't your manager just go and deal with it?

Jester, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've poured away more alcohol than I have ever drunk.

Its always underage kids. 15 doesn't suprise me in the slightest, nor would 14 these days. But to do it in a public building, now thats just beyond stupid.

Underaged drinking in a public area where staff members and/or management can see them...incredibly stupid.

Cause he was helping another customer and saw them out of the corner of his eye. It was just easier for me to go and yell at em (I wasn't really doing anything at the time lol)

                    Besides, it was FUN

Oh and we didn't "let them stay and drink." The kid took at MOST 3 sips of beer. We nailed them pretty quickly.

I'm not a beer drinker, but in this I'll give Jester a little bit of support...

since the beers were paid for, why didn't you just hand them over to the birthday boy?

And good for him for being sane about it Remember to thank him next time you have the chance!

Personally I prefer the method of getting *them* to pour it away, never before have you seen such pained expressions!

Gin, Vodka, Beer, Lager, I've poured it all away, and got the kids to as well!

I said that was going to be their story. If they were to go out and do something stupid and got hurt, it has a great chance of coming back on you (the ally). Most states will site a minor for a b.a.c. of above .01. They will also want to know where they were drinking at. By the nature of your business you can't have complete control of it, but once you became aware of it, they should have been gone. Giving people a warning or the benefit of the doubt in this case will come back to haunt you. I've seen places almost lose and lose their liquor licenses for less than that.
