OK, the parking system has now changed in the supermarket. The new system is that if you pay in one hour's parking, ie 60p, you get that back whatever you spend. However, if you pay in two hours parking, ie £1.20, and spend over £30, you get £1.20 back. The parking ticket now has a barcode and is scanned in as a coupon. Clear? Well, a customer I had yesterday was unable to comprehend this, no matter how many times I explained it. -.- He came in and spent around £20. I took his parking ticket and scanned it in; the ticket had £2 on it, but cuz he'd spent under £30, he got 60p off.
After his transaction, he grabbed the receipt and scanned it for mistakes. I hate it when people do that, but that's another rant entirely. He then turned round and said in a triumphant manner, as if he'd gotten one over the entire corporation of *supermarket* "Look at this! You didn't give me all my parking off!" I then explained the system to him. "No, that's bullsh*t! I paid in £2, look on my ticket. Therefore, I should get £2 off." I patiently explained to him that cuz he'd spent under £30, he could only get 60p back. "I don't believe this. I'm one of the best customers you'll ever have, I come in here and spend £300 every week, and you can't even give me a lousy £2 back!"
At this point, I was getting fed up with his inability to comprehend a simple system, and he was also holding up the queue. I told him to go to Customer Services to sort it out. He snatched up the recept, gave me a superior look and marched off.
And no, he didn't get his £2 back; I checked. XD We have signs all over the shop stating our new policy; guess he didn't see them.
