common sense failure (long-ish)

hi all, first post so a bit of background...... i work in a large call center in the uk, and my floor in particular is out sourced on a contract for a broadband supplier, standard stuff, anyway, we have this customer whos been disconnected for non-payments, standard procedure is to re-connect them to dial-up+ put a request for broadband through (7-10 days), which my freind(lets say 'h') has already done....on with the show...

me- 3 guesses, first 2 dont count
h-my friend and co-worker (sits beside me)
sc-sucky cmr

me- goodmorning welcome to "company name"ect ect...how can i help?
sc- i wanna speak to 'h'on extention 1234
me-ok, can i take your phone number to bring up your account please?
sc-'gives phone number' and passes security
sc-one moment, i'll see if shes available
*has a word with 'h', discover that cmr has been reconnected to dial up, ect ect*
me- hello there? im sorry 'h' isnt available at the moment, can i help at all?
sc-my broadband no work- 'h' sed she fix!
me, yes, i can see that H has set u up on a dial-up connection while your broadband is reconnected?
sc- i no get e-mails! my broadband no work!
me-*repeats the above* adding.... it will be 7-10 days for your broadband to be re-connected
sc-you send me e-mail to confirm! i no get emails!
me...im sorry, you would like an email sending....

me...that you wont be able to recieve.....
sc no!
me...confirming your broadband isnt working?
sc yes! dial-up no work!
me...right....are you using the computers internal modem?
sc yes! i have modem and wireless router-they both no work!
me...yes, thats because there both adsl modem/router, you need to use the INTERNAL modem...
sc...i AM use internal modem!
me....and what colour is the internal modem?
sc...hang on-i check- you no hang up!
*sounds of rummaging*
sc- i have modem!
me-in your hand?
sc-yes! i tell you-it black!
me...then its not an INTERNAL modem sir, an internal modem would be INSIDE your computer
sc...inside?
me...yes, you need to plug your phoneline into the back of the harddrive
sc...phone-line no reach!
me...theres very little i can do about that sir
sc...oh.....i wait for you to send email, then i wait for broadband to connect..you say 7-10 days?
me..thats correct sir...

this ofcourse leads to another lengthy rant about the reconnection period, remember this guy owed US money!

anyway, sorry for the long rant!
