I forget what it is, but New Jersey enacted a pretty hefty fine a couple years ago for driving without your license on you.
Got this one slapped on me a few years ago, when I'd just moved here and bought a car (which had yet to be inspected currently). I was rushing out the door on my way to my first job, and being flustered and late, forgot to grab my wallet AND my cell phone. As I'm driving down the road, I panic and realize that so I decide I'll U-turn after I make the right onto Federal City Rd.

Well, guess who does an f'ing U-Turn and rides my ass before I can even get to FCR? That's right. A hopewell cop with nothing better to do.

I got slapped with a 190 dollar fine for failure to present documentation/identification. To make matters worse I had an insurance policy but my new card was only a few days away in the mail.

Friggin police state, I'm telling you

      And, speaking of IDs...
So, at our store, I've been informed that no matter how old someone looks, they have to have ID in order to buy alcohol.
Gah! That's a terrible policy to have to enforce. I caught hell more than once for carding people at an alcohol retailer that had a "card everyone who looks under 35" -- I can't imagine what it's like to have to card people who are clearly over 50!

Actually, it's not as bad as you think, I had a friend get pulled over without her license on her, but she DID have a valid one on file.

They gave her a ticket for like $87... if she mailed it in. However, you could also drive down to the clerk's office and take care of it in person.

For $3. Yup a THREE DOLLAR ticket
(oh and no points on her license either)

        She paid cash lol
Locally it's more like $50, but will probably be dismissed if you bring a valid license to court.

But, of course, she didn't just leave her license at home, or in her other purse. People say that, but they almost never DO that. You remembered to transfer your cash, but not your ID?
Either you left it at the bar you went to last night (unlikely, but happens), or your license is suspended and a cop took it away from you.

Or you are 20, and hope I'll let you slide on the ID thing if you claim you don't have it with you.

I wish i lived someplace where you don't have to take drivers ed to get a license. Because at my age i'm sure as hell not going through that again.
          Connecticut.
You just need a licensed driver to sign a form stating that they have given you 16 hours of instuction.

may I say, getting a license in Nevada is much more difficult than Utah (granted, I did a transfer of license, not a new license)... but for me to get my license in Nevada I had to take a 6 week course, 3 hours per week, then take a written test, then a driving test, in traffic on city streets... I damned near got in a wreck during my driving test, I thought I was going to fail... I passed though with flying colors because the tester was impressed at hell well I avoided the collision
Utah on the other hand... all I had to do was pay a fee and take a written test, a multiple choice, OPEN BOOK, test (and people wonder why Utah drivers suck )
If you wish to find meaning, listen to the music not the song
