We've been at $4.07-$4.09 since the first week of July. Whomever is still paying under $4 a gallon should be thanking their lucky stars.

3.89, lucky. I paid 4.02 today in Massachusetts. Better than the people in Alaska, http://www.alaskagasprices.com/ it can vary from 4.40 to 7.25 in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of nowhere.
      Its $5.50 on Nantucket

Yeah... once gas hits a local 4$ a gallon, screw the world. I'm taking a bike to work!
It's $1.35 a litre here... 3.8 litres to a US gallon... dollars are pretty much par lately... $5.13 a gallon. We passed $4 some time last year. And this is in Calgary, the heart of oil country!

And yes, I ride my bike a lot. Now I prefer it to the car, it's way easier to park and it's frequently faster through rush hour traffic! The local bike shops are gearing up for lots more commuters, offering specials on bikes that have racks, fenders, and city-friendly gearing; there are classes on bike maintenance and all kinds of selection for bags, panniers, and even trailers for carrying stuff. It's pretty neat to see, and I hope it continues.

Yesterday I went past a gas station and waved cheerfully at someone filling up a Hummer

By the way, I ride about 20 miles a day and I am not a jock at all.

Oh, I do, I do, but I'm sure I'll be bawling when Mike and I have to fill up the truck somewhere between NJ and WI.

Here in good ol Western Washington it's 4.39 in most places, and has been for over a month. Actually, it seems to be slowly going down. Which is always good

I'm actually disheartened by all the people with cheaper prices than utah ($4.15)... because traditionally we've had some of the cheapest gas and still we have some of the lowest quality gas... so yes, I am paying a higher price than a lot of you and getting lower quality... God Bless natural monopolies... my bus pass has gotten a lot of use this year, as has my bike.

In South Florida, gas is around $4.05/gallon....and that's for regular. Late last year, my county raised up the prices for bus passes and to get on the bus by around $0.50 or so. Sure I'm waiting for 20 minutes or more in the hot sun for a stinkin' bus, but the bright side is that I'm not paying a shitload of money to gas up a car.

I live in Missouri, and I just lowered the prices at my station from $3.69 to $3.65 today. I can't believe all of the people who come in and whine about the prices. Maybe I should point out how much other people are paying.....

                      Yurp.

I'm going to have to use that at some point.

Yeah, I'm in MO, but gas is still floating around $3.95 or so. It's about the same back home in AR.

Where I'm moving (in KS) gas is slightly more expensive (I'm guessing due to a state tax or somesuch), but I'll be driving around less since everything is closer together.

We're paying between $4.50 and $5.00 around here, and we live within a few miles of several oil refineries, including Chevron.

BTW, one of my coworkers went to work for Chevron a little over a year ago. She took a chunky paycut, but she got a huge bonus and profit sharing, so she really didn't lose any money.

SC: Well I ask because "you" have "all" of these refineries here.
SC: Oh well I still can't believe the gas prices here. It is only 3.89 in Colorado. (we are in Montana)

I bet his head would go 'splodie if he new how much gas costs in Alaska with all the oil refineries.....

Hint it's been over $8.55/Gal though now down to a "reasonable" $7.25 in some areas according to this site
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

Actually, that's a good point. My parents just got back from a 6 month tour of Yurp in a motorhome and dad says it's the only time he;s ever been glad to see petrol cosing over £1.

It's not like it's even hard to get it to lik ethe places in Alaska, our government just likes to tax us to pieces.

oh I love the gas price tourist... I used to get that a LOT when I still lived in Reno... people would complain about how much we charged tourists... so finally I with a straight face would just start telling people "oh yes, locals get gas for cheaper, rather than sliding your card on the prepay just go into the attendent and tell them 'bob johnson' and they'll give you the local price"
and they'd be like, wait you really have a local price... and I would respond, no we don't, I just figured it would get you to shut up about how high prices are because guess what, I have to pay that every time I fill up.
I want to slap said tourist for being from Colorado. How DARE he defile the name of my state!!!

For an overview of gas prices, as well as finding the cheapest gas in your area, in the US and Canada visit Gas Buddy. They have a US map and a Canada map that shows the range of gas prices. Here is a graph comparing US and European gas prices. I also found a world map showing relative gas prices, but it is dated 2005.
