Woman comes in holding a very tattered copy of a "want ads" kinda paper
She asks if we have them I say "Yes we have them they are over there."
I notice she picks up one of them with the same hand as she's holding the beat up copy.
I was an amature magician for a time (I learned a bit about slight of hand, but could never do it. Not enough practice) and knew exactly what she had done.
When She started to leave, I told her "Miss..." and before i could get another word out she said "I CAME IN WITH THIS" and left as fast as she could.
I went over and it was a copy that was almost 3 weeks old that she came in with. She just did a very fast switch with a "new" one and tried to make it look like it was the one she came in with.
Yep. The Bitch scammed us for $1.25.
Literally I could tell it wasnt' the same when she walked in cause of how beat up it was and I could tell the picture was different. Even from 20 feet away I could make out the image on the front of it (Literally I've caught license plates perfectly of people driving 50 miles an hour away trying to steal gas at almost 30 yards.)
Why didn't I confront her? Well her "boyfriend" was there, and first rule of doing this job. Your safety is paramount, a loss of inventory is not worth the loss of your life. I wasn't gonna confront them cause I knew this guy would've run interference and hurt me to protect his "bitch" (my words)
I caught her dead to rights this time, and didn't have time to get her license plates. But I know we'll be keeping an eye out for her next time.
