I'd also tip off the owner of the property about the discount. That way the manager can learn about what happens when you piss off a good customer to placate a PITA.
Good idea, Irv! I absolutely hate it when spineless managers circumvent the rules and go out of their way to cater to the SC's.

I'd be asking the manager why they bother having rules to follow at all since obviously they aren't adhering to them.
I have asked myself that question sooooo many times...
As much as I can't stand my old boss, when I worked with him in the store and he gave a customer something I had said no to, he at least had the decency to make sure the customer was aware that I was following the rules and that, as the manager, he was making a one-time exception.

What happens when the owner doesn't get the rent he contacted for?
So does the 25% discount come out of the rental company's fee?
*****
I may have to check out your vacation rentals. So far I can a 25% discount by demanding if from the supervisor, and another 30% if I get a unit without a towel warmer.
My question exactly, who's pocket is this discount coming out of?
_Somebody_ higher up needs to be asking some spineless manager a few tough questions!
If I were the owner of that property, I'd go above the manager's head and demand my full payment on the rental fee and possibly sue the company for breach of contract (assuming the owner didn't approve of the discount.) I also wouldn't allow that company to represent my property again.
Personally, I think spineless managers who do that should pay for things like this out of their own pocket - and perhaps, if this were the case, there would be a lot fewer spineless managers in the world.
I can see it now:
Manager's Boss: Well, I've been going over the books, and I'm afraid you owe the company $7000 in lost revenue, so we'll be docking the costs out of your paycheck. Sorry you won't be seeing any quarterly bonuses over the next year, better luck next time.
Manager: But... but... that's the money I needed for Christmas this year.
