  • Was I a Sucky phone customer?

On Tuesday I tried to call my nearest Futureshop to see if they had the Sims 2 Apartment Life.

The key word should be tried to call.

On my sixth attempt or so, I finally got Customer Service. Who transferred me to the video games department. After several rings I heard a pick up, then a prompt click and dial tone. Whoever picked up the phone HUNG up on me.

All day Tuesday I continued to call, trying to find out when they were getting the game. If they had answered the first time I would have left them alone, maybe called before they closed Tuesday night to see if they had an ETA for Wednesday when they would probably get it.

Wednesday morning was no better, several attempts were not answered before finally getting through around 2pm. Find out they only had 1 copy left, there would be no way I was going to get it as the store is 25 minutes away and my ride wouldn't be home for another hour.

I called EBGames and another Futureshop. Both answered the phone promptly and had lots of copies. I chose the other Futureshop because they were not only better on the phone, but could put 2 copies away for me to pick up, even though I told the man I wouldn't be there until after supper.

Was I a sucky customer for calling and calling a same store to try to find out if they had the game or not?

To be fair, it's possible the phone slipped from their hand. I've done that myself and it was hardly on purpose.

No, I don't think you were. It doesn't sound as though your yelled and screamed or demanded anything out of line.

      Nope. Not at all.

I accidentally hung up on a caller a few times. Once, when I opened my notebook, it landed on the release button on the hardphone. Not only did it drop the call, it signed me out. Another time, I was adjusting my desk (we had totally awesomely customizable adjustable desks at the Plano center...not so much after we moved) and accidentally bumped the escape key on the keyboard. Guess what that's a hotkey for, and guess which app had focus at the time? Yup, the soft phone. Oops.

i've hung up on people by accident at work... our phone sucked... but they usually called back and i apologized for it.

but i've also seen guys do just that... pick up the phone and hang up because they were in a mood.

but... there's a Sim's Apartment out? wooo.... i am sometimes a slave to my sims....

It would be sucky to keep getting a CSR and keep asking "Do you have the game yet?" even though they kept telling you shipment doesn't arrive till 5pm.

To keep calling when you can't get through - what could be sucky about that? Nope, no suckage here.

How could that possibly be sucky? They chose not to answer the phone, then hung up on you.

You should find out who the manager is and tell them how you were treated. If the manager blows you off, find out who the district manager is or go straight to the corporate complaint site.

If you don't complain, they're going to continue to treat customers that way.

When you do contact them, make a point of telling them about the other, great Futureshop, and how well you were treated there. Also, be sure to tell them that you also called EBGames and that they were quite helpful. Nothing like a little competition to make companies consider how they're treating their customers.

Well they will have more competiton from EBGames starting next year.

A new EBGames will be opening in the EXACT same plaza as Futureshop.

I don't know when it opens, and by the sounds of it will be easier to get to since Futureshop is on the opposite side of the plaza from where we have to go in.

I am suddenly reminded of when my SO tried to call a local grocery store a while back. They had a key makng machine there and he wanted to get Roommate's car keys copied. But everytime he called, he could only get one question out before he was interrupted, given a rather curt answer and hung up on. He finally got through, demanded a supervisor and got his questions answered by her.

Later, when we went grocery shopping, he filed a formal complaint. So, no, I don't think you were sucky at all.

Nor do I think my SO was sucky.
