  • what the hell is the difference???

Okay I don't maybe I'm just really stupid or I don't pay enough attention to care.
What the hell is the difference between detrodant and anti perspirant.I have had people throw fits like children. Why because they said do you have detrodant and I yes and they walk over and see anti perspirant.I dunno.

Deodorant just masks your b.o. essentially, but you still sweat. Antiperspirant means that you've blocked yourself from sweating.

I'm pretty sure that's the difference.

      I'll second that notion.

The difference that is probably causing the problems is that Antiperspirant contains Aluminum.

There are many studies that are starting to show that aluminum can cause irreparable damage to the nervous system among other things.

This however, doesn't give anyone the right to be an asshole about it.

Thirded. Also, one has aluminum zirconium something-or-other, which someone people have a slight allergy to whilest others do not.

Deodorants are substances applied to the body, particularly the armpits, mainly to reduce body odor caused by the bacterial breakdown of perspiration. A subgroup of deodorants are "antiperspirants", which prevent odor and reduce sweat produced by parts of the body. Antiperspirants are typically applied to the underarms, while deodorants can also be used on feet and other areas in the form of body sprays.

Okay, in steps the guy famous for getting REALLY technical about it.

Antiperspirant usually contains aluminum compounds, which are potentially dangerous; aluminum is found in the damaged brain cells of alzheimers patients for instance. It prevents BO by reducing underarm sweat, so smelly bacteria don't have an environment in which to grow.

Deodorant contains pesticide-like antibiotics, and prevents BO by killing bacteria, sweaty armpits or not. These kill bactgeria, and slowly, the wearer too.

                Pick your poison.
Suckiness is reinforced up OR down at every transaction. Accepting BS makes them worse for all of us; firm fairness trains them to suck less.

Better idea for avoiding BO: shave and keep it clean.

Well remember that everything either gives you cancer or causes cancer anyway!

I have stopped worrying about the dangerous chemicals and stuff everywhere, if you believed it all you would never leave the house and only eat organically grown vegetables in your garden. So you would then die of malnutrition!

There is natural antiperspirant/deodorant with no aluminum or other weird stuff; health food stores carry it. Although I find some of the "natural" antiperspirants can actually make me sweat more

And you would have an equal number of childish fits thrown if you were to state that you do not have deodorant and the people who think they are the same thing see you have their antiperspirant on the shelves.

Speaking as one who uses only deodorant, I can attest that there is a big difference between the two. I had to educate my wife about this as she is one who uses the term "deodorant" for both.

Well, that works....up to a point. Around here in the summer, no matter that you've shaved and washed that morning, there's a good chance that you're going to stink by the end of the day if you've been out running around.

If you're susceptible to sweat rash, there's a world of difference between deodorant and anti-perspirant.

And even more difference between simple anti-perspirants typically sold in supermarkets, and anti-sweat-rash substances (usually in a cream or lotion which helps moisturise the affected skin) sold in pharmacies.

BTW: many of the 'natural' antiperspirants are simply a block of an aluminium-based crystal. Sure, totally natural. Sure, antiperspirant. But still containing aluminium.

                            1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
                            2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
                            3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
                            4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

I am one of the people who can't use an anti-perspirant. If I do I not only sweat more, but I also have really bad BO.
I have given up on finding a women's deoderant that is not also an anti-perspirant and use men's deoderant.
