So I can understand women being leary about a guy helping them pick out a bra...embarassment....shyness.....first bra (in the case of a girl buying a training bra). But my gawd I am so tired of hearing that I can't help them because men don't wear bras we don't know anything about bras. Uhm....yeah...hate to tell ya...a man invented bras.....
ANYWAYS..I had a lady (using term loosely) come in yesterday and inform me that she needed a 56FFF bra (we dont make them) I just gave her a
look because I couldn't see how she would take a 56 band OR a FFF cup. I informed her that I didn't think that she would be that size. I informed her that I thought that she would be a 40DD at the most (which we DO carry). Lady started arguing with me that I am a man I dont know anything about bras (here we go again...) so I offered to have my female co-worker do a free fitting.....
Lady comes out...my co-worker informs me of her size so I can help her further....
.....a 40DD....
I start to TRY to help her find a bra, and the lady says "you are a guy you dont know anything about bras...I want her to help me..." I replied "I can do that if you want me to...just be aware...shes been with us for 3 weeks...Ive been here a year AND Im the manager...I know more about bras than most women..."
she replied that she doubted that. So I just replied "let me try." Deciding to show her that I DO in fact know about bras I started my line of questioning...
"do you want cotton or microfiber?" Easy answer.....
"do you want underwire or no wire?" Again...easy answer
"do you want single lined or double lined?" Not as easy...
"how many clasps do you want?" easier than the last one...still not easy
"would you like straight straps or racer back?" Not as easy....
"do you want a fixed bridge or a bridge with a pivot point?" customer at this point was
"Do you want one with a straight stitch, laser cut, or zig zag stitch?" again
Now dont get me wrong...I wasn't being sucky..I explained what everything was and what they do at every step...it just irritates me that women automatically assume I dont know anything because Im a guy.....Ive even had women tell to get to the men's side of the store where I belong. I just politely inform them that its MY (as a manager...I don't own it) store and I will go where I want to.
