  • Money is everything

It's been really busy lately and due to the construction in the cage, only half the cage is available and that only leaves four cashiers no matter what. Well, in this casino and I imagen every other one--there are those who believe they are TOO good to wait in line because they have money. The high rollers.

I looked in line and noticed one of the regular high rollers and I groaned because usually they want HUGE amounts of money--no questions asked.
Of course he came to MY window. And with this guy I know him on sight so ID is not required. But with everybody else I have to ask for ID. Hmmm.
SC: I need this to be fast. I have people watching my machine. The line is ridiculous!
Meaning: I'm too rich to wait in line like everybody else and I demand special attention.
Me: I'm sorry about the line sir. How may I help you?
SC: I need 1000 in markers.
Usually we can only authorize up to about $500 unless a supervisor ok's it. But the last time I dealt with this person I was told to just do what they want.
    I processed the marker.
    SC: Oh I mean I want 1500
(Oh crap) so I do another one and by then I am freaking out because he is being so impatient and is like a personal friend to my boss. He even bought her grandkids some stuffed animals.
    Me: Sure... Just one sec.
I HAD to make sure it was okay though I already processed it. I ran to the back to where the supervisor was.
ME: I need you to promise not to get mad... (I bet the supervisor loves hearing that one!)
I told him what I did and he told me to RUN back up there and just give him his money. So I go back up there and he's pissed.
SC: I didn't realize it was that hard...
And other mutterings about my stupidness. I cash him out for the 1500 and send him on his merry way.
Okay I work in a very money controlled place. We don't just throw money out to everybody. I went back to my supervisor and he told me this:
Supervisor: NExt time he comes to your window tell him to go straight to the VIP room and I will meet him there.
So see, if you have money you are above waiting in line like everybody else!!! I think that is sick. I understand they spend a lot of money in the casino but it doesn't make it right for them to be jerks and feel high and mighty over the rest of us.
Everytime this guy comes to the cage he makes me nervous and the second time he came up I begged my co-worker to take him. Thank god he did cuz he wanted like 3000 this time. I hate rich people who think they can buy off the world.

I don't know how old you are, but about ten years ago, I finally got it in my head that life just plain isn't fair. Since then, my life has been much more free. Maybe it's called cynicism, but if you don't expect anything, then you can't be dissapointed when you don't get it. My fiancee' hasn't learned this lesson yet (works for the post office) and she is miserable a lot.

I'll agree with you there ebonyknight. I used to be all upset about the lack of money issue but then I realized I've got enough to survive and actually be comfortable somewhat and I'm happy enough now.

Money can't buy happiness........It can only rent it.

They say money can't buy hapiness, all I'm asking is for the opportunity to do my own research!

I personally like the saying, "Whoever said money doesn't buy happiness doesn't know where to shop".

I've seen it both ways- people who are obviously loaded but are incredibly sweet and sincere, and then there are the other ones.... Jerks span all socio-economic levels.

Someone in another thread a while ago said that money doesn't change a person, it just makes them more of what they already were.

They say that, money corrupts you, but I can't really tell.
I've got the whole world at my feet, and I think it's pretty swell.

Look at the bright side. He's a rich person... in a casino. So unless he sticks to poker or other "against other customer" games, AND is good at them, he's not going to remain a rich person.

I'm with Gurndigarn. The faster you get him out of line the faster he can lose his money.
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

So you eat filet mignon seven times a day and have your bathtub filled with perrier? Although having someone chew your food sounds a bit gross.

Okay I work in a thrift store and believe it or not we get these unbelievable requests like can you come off the price I buy toys from here...Oh i am so impressed by your ability to spend a damn quarter on some toys which we mostly just give away! I mean really folks it is a charitable organization and you are trying to wheel and deal a better price when the S#!T is a dollar. And how can I not just LOVE those who ask how much something is and I quote them a price of let's say .50 and they say I'll give you a quarter...Uhh ya just heard me say .50 why would ya say that!!! I mean come on...

In this case, the most apt phrase would be

"A fool and his money are soon parted" or is it "A fool and his money are some party!"

                            Either way...
