2 stories, and considering this hurricane hasn't hit, there will be more.
First guy wasn't too sucky. He called the library around noon.
SC: What's new with the hurricane?
Me: (thinking, you have no tv or radio? ok that can happen) It will hit either Matagora bay, or Galveston, or Beaumont.
SC: Oh, Ok (then some rant about "those people who don't" something or other...just rambling). Ok, thanks.
I was just thinking he just wanted to talk to someone about his concerns. Maybe he's by himself. Oh well.
Second guy walks in and smells like he spent his check on beer.
SC: Are you going to close early tonight?
Me: No, but we will be closed Fri. and Sat.
SC: Well, that's no good. The library should be open, it's the only place people can be informed about the weather.
Me: Well, there's the tv and the radio.
SC: For those who have tvs and radios.
Me: oh, well you can buy a radio at Radio Shack for $20 (note, I really don't know whre the cheapest radio can be purchased, but I was also thinking if he spent money on a radio and not on beer or whatever booze, he would be ok)
The SC then gets on our courtesy phone to call 311 and ask "Where can a homeless person go to get out of town?"
Heck, he's bailing, he won't be here tomorrow, why bitch about us being closed. Then he talks to me while he's on hold
SC: You should have some signs up saying you will be closed tomorrow.
Yeah, well, believe me our library is on the ball...ie, not.
