Wow. Proof that money really does inflate people's egos. I came up with so many nasty words for this guy while reading that, I'm just not going to bother typing them all.

My solution? Fire this guy out of a cannon and into the sun.
Please, don't do that to the sun.

You know, if the guy HAD dropped his phone right then and there, he probably would have tried to sue them for mistreating his pwesious personal property.

I personally would have flung it as hard as I could- possibly I would have stepped on it, too, you know, in my haste to get away from that creepball. Definetly all in my haste to get away from him, yup. Not with an ounce of contempt, or hate, and any such feeling for the asshat.

Well... maybe a little bit of hate. =)

        Gawd. What an asshat.

If he'd abused me like that, I would've either been witty or told him where he could take his violation of privacy.

And platinum....seriously, if you're gonna have platinum, then why do you even bother staying in a Holiday Inn? Why not something more exotic? (Sorry, I'm from Aus and seeing the title "Holiday Inn" reminds me of a motel, not so much a resort)

Words fail me...he wanted the front desk employee to BARK LIKE A DOG if he asked?! Geez...props on the manager for tossing it in like that, but it strikes me that a bit more creativity might have been in order. Like, say, overshooting and sending it into traffic, or just the good old-fashioned "don't know my own strength" routine

So he admits to doing all of this- yet somehow he's the victim. Precious.

and you good sir, are the caller that I hated at the call center (nothing personal)

Holiday Inn does in fact run resorts now, they have some properties that put Marriott to shame... hell even the Expresses are going upscale now.

Oh and having come from the same call center as dekyrose, platinum refers to people who spend at least 50 nights a year in IHG properties... so you could theoretically have platinum status never staying at anything nicer than an old Express for $40 a night in bumfuck Ohio.

Not very bright of him to admit to doing all of that.

I did wonder, though, why he would have had to leave the room when the cleaning staff came.
SC: I refused to leave the room when housekeeping came to service my room.
Is one expected to leave for cleaning staff? If so, then I am a bad customer, because I have stayed in my room while they cleaned. (I felt a bit lazy, sitting there while they worked.) Usually, though, if I am still in the room, they say they will be back later. It's only when they come back and I'm still there that they go ahead and do their thing.

Ree, I think that depends on the hotel... I know with us if the guest doesn't want to leave the room it's bathroom only for cleaning... possibly replace the bedding, but vacuuming is definitely out, takes too much time to work around people with a vacuum (the housekeepers average 17 rooms per person, they have to be quick or they don't finish).

Cheers. Apologies. Like I said, I'm Australian, very rarely do I come across anyone who uses platinum, and also thinking of platinum, made me think of credit cards rather than status.
We also have a brand in Australia called "Comfort Inn" which are, mostly, motels, not so much upscale.

Me too...but I'd put a little more effort in the phone hitting the SC where it hurt. On a more serious note, I just can't believe he had the gall to yell out EW demands for 10,000 points after he mistreated staff at the other hotel and was kicked out. Assholes like him need a good .

In my [current] hotel, if you do not vacate the room (for any reason, say for example you go down for breakfast) your room does not get cleaned at all. It's a safety issue; we don't you hurting our staff and we don't want our staff to hurt you.

Tropics, it was 100,000 points, not 10,000 points. 10 Thousand points doesn't get you much in Holiday Inn. Or any other hotel for that matter. Well, you might get a half price discount, but that's about it. The real fun doesn't kick in until 30-50,000 points.

yes, I spent way too long in that call center, being accused of being in India, having to pretend that I was actually at the hotel and having hotel employees who when they did call in made it clear they thought we were stealing their jobs...
