I love curry, too! The ships I sail on frequently make stops in Singapore. Tang's department store there has a sort of deli in the basement, which sells something they call 'curry puffs,' at a price that (to Americans, at least), is incredibly cheap. Every time I stop there, I'm afraid I buy them out, and take them back to the ship. So, if you're dissapointed at them always being short of the 'puffs,' I guess you have me to blame!
Been there, had them and they are indeed awesome!
By the way, elysia, that sounds absolutely delicious!
My favourite is my friend's wife's Thai Green Curry
There are just some foods that shouldn't be eaten in a store or office where you have co workers or customers.
An employee at a retail store I worked at once reheated a fish dish (leftovers from home) and the smell was so bad it cleared out the store.
I use a Thai green curry paste (producer went into liquidation - I bought five cases...) that comes in 100g jars.
Fry half a jar for about a minute, add a tin (400ml) of coconut milk, then add diced chicken/emu/poultry and various veg (usually pak choi, onion, water chestnuts, mange tout etc), and boil for a good while. Tradition is to have it somewhat watery and serve with noodles, but I just add some sheets of dry noodles and let them soak up all that yummy curry juice that would otherwise be left in the bottom of the bowl.
Yumcious! Even Jester thinks I eat too much of this one.
Oh man... I would have had to leave the store too - because I really do think it's rude to stand there making puppy-dog eyes at someone's dinner and I wouldn't be able to help myself.
Thanks for posting the recipe, or I would have been REALLY sad.

curry is awesome! thanks for the recipe but i am having a little difficultly following were the customer was rude or sucky, maybe i just missed it
Me too. Obviously the smell was strong enough to be smelt since she commented on it. Even though it was only nuked a short bit and there was plenty of ventilation, she might just be very sensitive to it. I personally can smell perfume or cologne a mile away even if it is a near scentless fragrance and on a windy day............. okay not quite that strong but still............
I KNOW what it is like to smell something that makes me sick and have other people become confused and surpirsed because they smell nothing or used only a bit.
Yes, she went a bit overboard on her reaction, but calling her a whore and wishing harm upon her was really uncalled for, same for assuming she was insulting you.
She hates Curry, the smell nausiates her, she commented on it, she left. Nowhere did I see anything that warrants such a reaction. Did I miss something?

I have never tried curry of any type. Although I am Texan, I don't have much of a tolerance for spicey food. When having mexican, I avoid anything that has jalapenos or salsa, or ask if I can get it without.
