OR, How the shuttle driver pwned an SC.
This sadly didn't happen on my shift, I only heard about it second hand. This guy needed to be taken to the greyhound depot to catch a bus. First thing he did was come down half an hour before he left and started harassing the shuttle driver about there not being cookies ready yet, shuttle driver calmly explains that he just started baking them, it is going to be a while before they are ready. Guy comes down 15 minutes later demanding to know why the cookies weren't out, shuttle driver explains there is still a few minutes left to bake and then they'd have to cool down. The shuttle driver even went as far as to put some of the cooling cookies in the fridge to cool them faster. Our SC when he comes back goes to the desk person and says "I don't want to deal with that asshole you have running the kitchen today, can you go get some of the cookies I know had to have been ready a while ago for me" So, the front desk girl goes, grabs him his oh so important cookies.
Fast forward 5 minutes from that point, guy goes to the desk and says "I'm ready for my shuttle, are you driving it". Front desk person says, "nope, our shuttle driver over there is going to be driving you today... and before you protest, he's the only person here right now authorized to operate the shuttle"
SC begrudgingly gets in the shuttle with the really cool shuttle driver, shuttle driver turns on the news on the radio, SC gets upset because "it's not the right station" tells the shuttle driver to change it to (some really annoying rock station), so the shuttle driver just turned off the radio and told the SC "I'm sorry, I don't like that music, if you don't like the news station I'll turn it off"
At this point the SC blows up on the guy "do you have a problem with me? or are you an asshole to all your guests"... at this point our hero pulls over to the side of the road next to a bus stop, points to the sign and says "you can either take the 517 which runs every half hour, stops right at Greyhound, costs $2.50, or take the 217 to 200 west and transfer to either TRAX line at Temple Square going towards the Intermodal hub, that runs every 15 minutes and costs the same, either way I'm not required to put up with abusive guests, so get out of my van"
Needless to say SC gets pissed, yells threats of getting the guy fired, yadda yadda, I never heard the exact conversation, but long story short, SC ends up getting out of the van... he actually called the hotel demanding to speak with the manager on duty... MOD had already been contacted by shuttle driver and told what happened, so the MOD told the guy "I'm so terribly sorry to hear how he handled that... he should have also given you the phone number for a cab company if you didn't want to wait for the bus"
Ah, another satisfied customer (oh, and this is another one of those, yeah, we didn't provide as good of service as we could because everyone hates the contract that guy was staying on... the GM intentionally placed a high bid for the rate hoping they wouldn't take it... unfortunately everyone else placed even higher bids because no one wants to deal with them because so many of their employees are EWs and SCs).
