I hung up a large whiteboard in someone's office and had to get rid of the 4 x 6 box that it came in. It's late in the day, this was my last job, I don't feel like running it to the dock so I just drop it in the storage room. I'll back all the time so I'll take care of it next time in.
FYI, this storage room is massive, about 2000 square feet, and virtually empty. The company was doing major renovations, changing out all the carpet and furniture. The room was used to store the new stuff, and as a holding room while the old stuff was getting replaced and shipped out. With the renos virtually done, the room is now about 80% empty.
Anyways, a bigwig bitch comes down for some reason or another and sees this empty box (placed neatly, out of the way against a wall). She flips, throws an absolute fit. This is ridiculous enough, but she takes it a step further. She sends a vicious e-mail to my boss, my dispatcher, and a half dozen people in her company. She spews about my blatant misuse of company resources and space and demands to know who authorized the storage of this box.
Fortunately none of this was done to my face. I caught the email my next time in and had time to cool down before responding to it. This was fortunate because my initial response was quite sarcastic:
- item was not stored in room, item was held in room waiting for disposal
- item removed from office floor due to health and safety tripping hazard, note: action was not authorized, decision made by evilhomer, please advise if this was correct action or if tripping hazard should have been left on office floor
(a little white lie here
)
- item taken to dock for disposal, bin was full, dock personel left for weekend
- item taken to room awaiting disposal
note: action was not authorized, decision made by evilhomer, please advise if action was correct, should I have waited for dock personel to return and charged you the 60 hours this would have taken, and/or, should item have been taken to empty room where it used less than 1% of available space
This was my response but I took my sarcastic notes out before submitting it. Next time I have this situation, I'll make sure to go straight to her to see how I'm supposed to handle it.
