  • Some people don't know the meaning of the word "discount"

SC walks up to the desk at about 6am and wants a room.

SC: How much is it for a room?
    Me: $89.99
SC: And what time is checkout?
    Me: 11am
    SC: *blank stare*
SC: But I don't think I can be up that early.
Me: The latest I can authorize would be a noon checkout. Plus, since it's so late I'm willing to drop the rate down to $79.99
SC: Can you give me a discount?
Me: That is a discount. I'm lowering the rate from $89.99 to $79.99
SC: No that isn't. That's the price. Can't you give me your employee discount?
Me: I'm not allowed to do that.
SC: Why aren't you giving me your employee discount?
Me: Because I'm not allowed to do that.
SC: Can I get a discount if I stay 2 nights?
Me: Yes, I'll let you have your second night at $79.99 as well.

Finally SC leaves, but returns just as I was heading out the door. I'm suspecting she was going to pull the same crap with my relief.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

    Isn't a lowered price....a discount??

Oh ay, my brain might explode trying to understand these people's thought processes.

Why do they think they're allowed to get an employee discount if they aren't an employee?!

Because, in their teeny weeny minds, they're spechuwl.

Anytime someone wants an employee discount just hand them an application. If they want the discount bad enough they can just start working there. See how they like it, having to deal with morons like them all the time!

See and I'm kind of hoping your relief is a hard ass and won't quote anything less than $89.99.

I call scammer on that. She was trying to confuse you and get the room for less.

                Yeah uh wow.

Our Employee discount is only for people who specifically work somewhere in the many franchised companies and have to have something called a "travel passport" verifying they are indeed employees somewhere. So, that offer wouldn't fly here.

79.99 is pretty generous especially with the noon check-out offer. Not your fault they didn't realize they were getting away with a great price.

I agree, that's a great deal. But would we really want to deal with the stupidity in the morning?

"But I asked for a late check out!"
"Noon is the late check out and it's past that."
"No it's not, that's the normal check out!"

                    I want to already.

Yes, things like a boot to the head.

The moment "give me your employee discount" leaves a SCs lips I tell them, "I'd rather keep my job, thank you."

When you go to a hotel, you're up and out at whatever time the hotel wants you to be. Why do people think they should get money off for being an arse? I say that arse tax gets introduced. A 50% price increase for anyone who pulls any entitlement, whiny or aggressive crap.
