  • Creepy hitchiker and bad brakes.

These two stories are not about sucky customers but a creepy one and an annoying one. The creepy one was a hitchhiker. My arena is located near a town that isn't well off, even though it's the county seat. Crime is somewhat high and the town is just decrepit. A guy comes walking from that direction, he asks me if I am going north. I reply with a no, going south thing. Even if I was going north there would be no way that I'm giving him a ride. He then asks me if I know anyone who is going north; I tell him no and he says he'll go inside and call a cab. There was something about the guy that creeped me out to no end but I just couldn't figure it out.

The second story is about a car I was lucky enough to hear that had high pitched squeaky brakes. While sending traffic out I hear a car that is making a high pitched noise that felt like nails on a blackboard, it was that bad. Traffic was also at a standstill so whenever the car went, the brakes would be going off. Other than that, it was a very easy night. I work a pre-season basketball game Monday, not looking forward to the SCs.

Ugh. There was a city bus behind me the other night that was doing that. We were barely moving, but the bus kept creeping up behind me. It seemed he wanted to ride my tail all the way down the hill. No sooner we'd start moving again, we'd have to stop. I know my own brakes grate a little, but that's simply from brake dust. This thing sounded like someone was grinding nails into the rotors!

And yes, listening to constant brake grating is extremely painful!

ooh our car made that noise for a long time! Awful squeaks that would wake people up when my husband came home from work at night. It wasn't our brakes, we thought it was a belt we replaced, but no matter what we did, the noise wouldn't stop. Once we drove the car across the country, the noise quit. I guess all it needed was a 2000 mile drive? o_O

With my car I wouldnt know if the brakes are grating, the noise from the exhaust is too loud.

That hitcher encounter sounded strange. I gotta agree going with your first impression is generally a good idea. I've given rides to people before but only if they didn't strike me as a threat/bad vibes.
