  • Let the whining begin

So this is the time of year that we stop placing orders for candy and products so that we can get rid of everything that we have before we close for weeks at the end of the year.Cause you know you wouldn't want 1000's of dollars worth of products to go bad. Of course us as employees understand this, not the stupid customers. The past few weeks have been nothing but bitching and whining. Like the muffin customer...
No we WILL NOT order an entire case of muffins that cost us 20.00 so you can have one blueberry and the rest wil go to waste.Because this time of year we are lucky if we make 300.00 a day.And no we WILL NOT order a case of chocolate milk weeks before we close. That would be stupid to let a 12.00 case of milk expire. Why can't customers just get over it and buy something else.I think everyone should be required to work at least 2 years in retail, that would teach them.

But I waaaaaaaaaaaant chocolate milk. That's just poor customer service.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

Yeesh. I can understand the expectancy of stores having what they had last week and such, but whining? To employees? That doesn't do anything.

I agree. Everyone should work retail for at least a little while.

My first boss always said that there should be a draft: everyone should have to work in retail or food services for at least 6 months. I tended to agree with her.

(Note: this boss was freakin' awesome. She was young, funny, nice, and liked Star Wars, MST3K, and Hitchhiker's Guide. I LOVED that boss.)

Clearly. Your first responsibility is to the customer. It doesn't matter how much product you waste as long as the customer gets what they want.
Excuse me, good sir paladin, can you direct me to your EVIL district?

I agree - make everyone do retail service. It opens your eyes like nothing else, and makes you think a lot more about how you act towards others.

Of course, someone would have to volunteer to form a squad of SCs just so they knew how bad things really do get on the other side, but all that's needed for that is to trap your regulars and turn them over to the taskforce...

It's for the good of humanity! (and for our sanity)

Thats something like what happens at the place I work.

Besides selling gas we sell cigarettes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco, candy bars, pop, and chips. If something sits there for months not selling the owner will pull it and not carry it anymore. Never fails, as soon as its gone and no longer in the building someone just has to have it.

The owner will order it for you BUT you must pay in advance for the whole carton, box, etc... Like a box of 50 cigars, or a carton of cigarettes or chew....

Boy do they get pissed off and never seem to understand why he does that. Its because as soon as he orders it for you we will never see you again unless you have paid for it already.

Why are you closing for weeks, out of curiosity?

                  Yep exactly:
We had the maids just yell and scream until we ordered powdered donuts..MMM donuts.Anyways they told us oh we will buy everyone you have.Well we bought three boxes,36 packs of donuts.Guess what they all went stale and had to be thrown away. Well never again and the maids are bitching again.Too bad. So we tell them why we don't have them and they just stand there with a stupid look on their face.

We close down around the third week of December for xmas. The whole union does.We don't reopen til the second or third week of january. Basically the students aren't around so no business. So we have to get rid of what candy/food we have so it doesn't expire and we lose money.
