    If you ever need to cut a straight line, you should measure out your yards and lay a piece of painter's blue, masking tape down where you need to cut and just go along the line. I do it all the time to quilt my tarot mats.

    People think that they couldn't possibly cut a straight line, or that they aren't talented enough to cut a straight line. It isn't true. There's nothing to it at all, really, bar cutter or not.

    And by bar cutter, do you mean the groove in the table?

        I was taught to nick the fabric and pull a thread, then cut along the "line" made by the pulled thread. Some fabrics are nigh on impossible to pull a thread in, though!
        Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.
