  • SCs Always In The Way

I swear to doG, this must be another of those mysterious immutable SC Laws (see my "Flock of Birds" post) ---

Any time I am clearing out the fitting rooms or replenishing stock, putting garments back where they belong, no matter where I am headed in our store, there is ALWAYS a SC "browsing" in the EXACT LOCATION where I need to hang or fold or straighten out something.

    It's uncanny!

"Please excuse me," I politely say, "Let me just tuck this in here and I'll be out of your way!"

They are chilly and silent, annoyed that I've interrupted their focus, even though I've just added another size or two into the array, which might be helpful to them.

I guess they think ELVES AND FAIRIES magically augment the hangbars and shelves, invisibly, in the twinkling of an eye.

If it wasn't for the custo-moos then working retail would be a dream...lol.

I notice that all the time.

It's also true when I'm going shopping, when I want to grab something, there is at least one person standing directly in front of it, and don't seem to move when I try and attempt to look like they're in the way.

Yes! I remember that all too well! I'd go to stock an item, and the whole aisle is clear, with the exception of the area that I need to go! I also find it to be true when I go shopping.

I know the feeling. I work in a Contact Center so I don't deal with customers face to face, but I can't believe the number of times on my way home (I get off around midnight) thinking to myself "hey, I want a pizza for dinner", swinging by the abandoned grocery store except for one other customer in the entire store standing right in front of the frozen pizzas looking lost

Oh yeah, yesterday as a matter of fact. I was shopping and I needed some shaving cream. So I went to the isle and someone was squatting and looking on the lower shelves. No problem, I said excuse me real nice. Actually I said it a few times. Finally just giving up on that and just reached for it. He gave me the dirtiest look and said that I should have said excuse me.

and reach poles! I swear there is a real life D&D weapon proficiency for those. If you do not have, step away from the pole! get the nice lady/man to do it for you.

I've noticed this quite often when I'm shelving stuff at the library - customers are usually cool about moving aside if they can see you're trying to put something back on the shelf, but every so often we'll get someone who decides to sit down and browse in the middle of the aisle, making it impossible for anyone else to get past them.
