  • Visitor Parking was reserved & customer wanted phone number to file a complaint

It was very busy at work today at the university I work at as a Visitor Parking attendant. This week is the last day of class fall semester, & many people parked in the garage, which only has 53 spots. At one point the garage was reserved for our guests on the event list. The problem with the software controlling the open sign still has not been fixed. The open sign will not change to full when needed.

    Here is what happened:
I am paraphrasing what the sucky customer said

    fsc: female sucky customer
    me: me
    my thoughts are in parenthesis

fsc: drives up to the booth windw with a kid in the front seat & 2 dogs in the back seat.

me: "Hi, can I help you?"
fsc: "I need to park here because I am going to fill out some paperwork for school."
me: (what the heck are you doing with 2 dogs in the backseat? Do you expect them to stay inside the car while you go inside the building?)
me: "I'm so sorry, but even though the open sign is on, every open parking spot is already reserved & already paid for, & unfortunately, I cannot allow anyone to enter the garage."
fsc: "So where am I supposed to park?"
me: "Other parking is available either at the meter lot behind your car across the street, at the lot on North Main Street, or at the lot at Main & Commerce Street."

So the fsc leaves to find a parking spot at the metered lot.

Then she returns & parks her car near the entrance to the faculty/staff garage which is adjacent to the Visitor Parking garage, gets out of the car, & walks up to the booth window.

me: (I'm sorry, but I still cannot let you park in the garage)

fsc: "Where else did you say I can park?" "Meter parking is full."
me: "either at the lot on North Main Street or at the lot at Main & Commerce Street."
fsc: "How do you get there?"
I gave her directions to get to the lot on North Main Street
fsc: "Is that lot free parking for students?"
me: "I'm so sorry, but no, it's paid parking for the public."
At this point she is looking at the sign in front of Visitor Parking stating Visitor Parking is $5.00 per customer. That sign is drilled into a concrete island in front of the garage. It cannot be moved. Unfortunately, the president of the university does not want the sign covered when the garage is reserved.
fsc: "So even though I am a visitor, I cannot park in the garage."
me: "I'm so sorry, but I received on the job training stating I cannot allow anyone to enter the garage when it is reserved."
fsc: "So you're telling me that I cannot park in the garage even though I am a visitor."
me: "I'm so sorry, but the on the job training I received states I cannot allow anyone to enter the garage when it is reserved."
fsc: "So there are reserved spots, which I cannot park in, & those people have not arrived."
me: (crap, lady, I gave you directions to the lot on North Main Street. Why can't you park over there?)
    me:"correct"
fsc: "What is the phone number to Parking so I can file a complaint?"
I gave her "Kim", my supervisor, phone number on a post it note.
fsc: "Someone will get into trouble because I cannot park in Visitor Parking."

The fsc left, & I gave "Kim" a heads up.

I am laughing as I write this message.

I can understand the frustration arriving at a garage that isn't visabley full, stilll has the open sign on and then being told I can't park where it is most convenient. But visitor parking or not, she clearly missed the point when you said the open spots were both reserved and paid for. When she started pulling out the "But I'm a Visitor" card, I would've told her that yes, and so were the other people who already reserved and paid for the visitor spots. First come, first serve and all that

This is why I hate customers. They always think you are lying to them and they thin they are smarter than you. Ugh, retarded woman. I can just imagine her at Christmas.

fsc: I see there are some more presents under the tree.
hunny: yes, but they have other people's names on them.
      fsc: but they arn't here.
      hunny: well, they will be.
fsc: Well why can't I open their presents?
hunny: Um, because it's their presents?
Time! Time! Time is what turns kittens into cats.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

      I wish porn had subtitles.
