  • Don't Get a Ticket Then?

    First post

I work at a local video store with a well-known national name had this gem that made me
    finally post here.

    Me:
    TL: Ticket lady

BG: We sell defensive driving DVD's for ticket reduction and whatnot.

TL: Do you have those defensive driving videos?
Me: Yes they are over here *walks to the display and hands it to her*
    TL: Is this to buy?
Me: Yes, we don't rent them because there is a specific ID for each one.
TL: *In a condescending tone* "Well i already bought one I don't think I should have to buy another that is ridiculous"

*Facepalm* Yeah get mad at me because you can't drive without getting a ticket.

Will have lots more stories coming, believe me, somehow my town is filled with more morons than usual

"I agree ma'am. You obviously were too dumb to get it the first time you watched the video, so you should just be banned from the roads altogether. Have a nice day."

Oh if only we could say such things, right?

Is that per capita, or by sheer volume? I think I could keep up with you, at the rate this year's gone.

Maybe I just have an excessive moron count compared to the average...

Also...how bad does one need to drive to have to buy a movie for it?
"That's too bad. Hospitals aren't fun to fight through."
"What IS fun to fight through?"
"Gardens. Electronics shops. Antique stores, but only if they're classy."

Well, you could just try to steal it, but then the end result is a bit more serious than a traffic ticket

wait, you can just watch a DVD there for ticket reduction

and all this time I was getting out of tickets by going to traffic school at ungodly hours on saturday mornings... I've been doing this the wrong way all along

I got the distinct impression you have to *buy* the DVD. Watching it may be optional, though it's certainly implied that you *should* watch it, for tips to avoid getting another ticket.

In an aircraft, or on rails, you are *required* to put safety first. Get caught not doing so, and you lose your licence and possibly get in jail. On the road, the attitude is far more lax.

Yeah various counties at least in California allow you to go online and take a test or buy various crap from various places to avoid going to traffic school all day long.

So why does he not use the one he already bought?
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Catch me on a bad day, and I might say it anyway. I've been known to make some very cutting remarks at the expense of notorious sucktomers before.

The movie doesn't help. Aside from some parking and other close-quarters maneuvers, operating a car requires almost zero talent. Modern cars practically drive themselves anyway - what with their automatic transmissions, power steering, power brakes, cruise control, etc.

Bad drivers are bad drivers largely for the same reason bad customers are bad customers. They don't think that rules apply to them, or they just don't THINK, period. And a video isn't going to change either of those conditions.

The customer's attitude in the original poster's story is exactly WHY she's a bad driver.

I did an online defensive driving thing once. Pretty convenient.

I wonder how the dvd thing works. For both school and online, you have to take a test -- heck, test may be required by law. So what do they do with the dvd, have you mail it in? Meh.
