  • Move, you multi-faceted trainwreck!

Sunday. It's dance recital day for Monkey kids #1 and #2. Because the dance school is relatively understaffed for events like this (everyone who works there for the most part is in the show), I've been asked to take tickets at the entrance to the theater. No sweat. I've done this before. I tear tickets, smile, tell people to enjoy the show, and move them forward to a young helper passing out programs.

When we're about 15 minutes away from the show starting, the line is starting to get long. I tear, wave through, smile. Lather, rinse, repeat. A large group appears, made up mostly of teenaged kids and one adult. Large group--like 15 people, all dressed to the nines, including one kid in a tux.

They stop. They mill about. It seems that they have waited until NOW to decide who is sitting where, and rather than decide this once they get inside, they must ABSOLUTELY decide this RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW so that everyone is holding the correct ticket. This takes at least five minutes and is accompanied by shouting, yelling, more milling around, and "witty" banter. And, naturally, they refuse to let anyone past them to get seated, since it was their turn to go through, and God forbid someone gets a seat before them, even though they had reserved seats that no one could take.

Thanks to this group of assclowns, we're several minutes late with the curtain going up, because we were still seating people at showtime.

Happy goddam holi-friggin-days. I detest humanity in all its forms.

What I saw of it was good. I admit freely that if my kids aren't on stage, I tend to glaze over. I slide my glasses down on my nose and just watch the different colored shapes bobbing around.

Monkeys #1 and #2 kicked booty, though.
