  • Excuse you, too!

I had to work the morning shift yesterday. Me and a coworker were waiting outside for the MOD to come let us in. She wasn't showing up, and I wasn't going to let myself or my coworker freeze out there, so I called to tell the manager that we were outside.

As I'm making the call, this crabby old lady came up behind me. No sooner did I end the call that the lady snaps out "I guess they don't need any business today!" All I can manage to say to that was "Excuse me?", to which she told me that they obviously didn't want anyone in the store, since they weren't open yet. I told her that we open at 10:00(it was about 9:45 at this point), and she told me that the store should open now, because she wants to shop now!!!!1!!!!!

The manager came up to the front and opened the door to let me and the coworker alone in. Coworker walked through the door, followed by me...

...and I was promptly shoved from behind by the same crabby lady, who decided to push employees to the floor in order to shop on her own time. The MOD told her that we weren't open yet, and she told the MOD "Well, you're open now, because I'm in here now!"

After a brief argument with the MOD, the lady left, giving us the regular "You lost my business" crap they all spew. She's lucky she wasn't charged with assulting an employee.

Don't worry, she'll be back. Don't they always?

Whenever a customer at our store threatens to never come back, or they're going to shop at "competitors", my one manager just yells after them "see you next week", and you usually do.

Wait a tick... she shoved you? Why was she not kicked off the property and told never to come back?

Screw that, why was she not arrested and escorted off the property and into a patrol car?

I would have let her I so you know where she is, also makes it easier for the Police to arrest her.

I can think of two charges for this lady:

              1. Assault both verbal and physiccall
2 Tresspassing or could even go so far as to trying to break in.

If I were in as a foul mood as the lady and was the MOD, she would be at least talking to the police and being explained to that if she showed back up, she would be riding with them...in handcuffs. But I'm not. Sorry that you were shoved and I hope the rest of your day went well.

my own personal thought is.... being shoved from the back, i'd be most likely to whip around with my forearms up, basically in a ready-to-defend-myself stance. (and the edge of the forearm is pretty good for knocking someone's arms away)

then again... back when i was in security at work, we had to learn a move very similar to that, to stop someone from trying grab for our guns.

the SC would probably still whine, but... well it'd be nice to see the look on her face too eh?

I will admit that the MOD didn't handle the situation all that well. She should have told the woman to leave right there and then and/or called the police. On the other hand, it also happened quite fast. From the time she shoved me to the time she stormed out the door probably lasted less than a minute. And thankfully, I wasn't hurt in any way.
