Hey everyone I am back and I had a good one just now.

Guest: yea Dave, I want to reserve this property but before I do, I have questions

Me: ok

Guest: First, in the pictures on the website all of the blinds are shut and I dont like that

Me: I can have someone take new pictures with the blinds open and email them to you if you like

Guest: no, I'd rather have you describe for me what I would be looking at when the blinds are open

Me: I know it has fairway lagoon views

GUest: what do you mean when you say fairway lagoon views? (in a very snippy tone)

Me: its on a golf course and has water views

Guest: from every window?

Me: well I am not really sure

Guest: is this your first day?

Me: No I have been here for seven years

Guest: and you dont know these things?

Me: sorry

Guest: you sure are, you know if you expect people to pay all this money, you have to paint the picture. Simply knowing whats on the website is not sufficent. I can read. With this economy, you should be grateful to have a job and you should take your job more seriously and this casual attitude you're taking with me shows me you clearly arent.

Me: Ma'am can I go ahead and make that reservation for you?

reminds me of a guest I had who was upset because I couldn't remember which rooms had the oversized bathrooms (there is about 15 on property... and no, they aren't all in one place, the larger bathrooms are where they needed to fill space)... that's when I remind them that we have nearly 100 rooms and my job never involves going into them unless I get shanghaied into helping with luggage because the shuttle driver isn't there to help. If they want to know which rooms have what (besides basic amenities) they best learn Spanish and hunt down a housekeeper.

It's one thing if it's one place you are renting, but there are several rental properties? Like smiley said, not likely that you would know. I kind of doubt housekeeping would know, though, since they are busy cleaning the shitpots, not taking the time to enjoy the view.

I wish these snotty people would not act the way they do, like you owe them subvervience. Fuck 'em. I bet she would have complained if the blinds were open: Well, why would you have the blinds open? How would I know if the blinds will close? You need to think ahead to meet the needs of your customers! I was going to spend $32 million on this vacation, but your website is so unprofessional because there are open blinds, I don't I will. What are you going to do about it? I might change my mind if you give me a 42% discount.

Hmm.... so a worker's memory of a place and angles as far as what's visible outside of windows is better and more descriptive than photos..... and if the place has say 10 windows.... and a picture's worth 1000 words.... does that mean she expected more than 10,000 words to describe the view?

If memory serves, doesn't the OP rent out many many different properties? He offered to have photos taken, which in my mind is already quite generous. Yet he is supposed to remember every minute detail from each property. What's the next question, what color are the inch-high flowers on the wallpaper in the den? Good grief.

I've gotten calls like VRS did before too. I've always answered politely but i've always wanted to blurt out "Oh i totally agree with you. It's shameful i havent personally been to all 200,000 properties we show on our website. Would you like me to transfer you to my boss so you can tell him how i need to go on a 5 year tour, preferably starting with our Caribbean properties. I hear it's gorgeous there this time of the year."

But i've never had the backbone to do it.

But hey! I'm getting laid off on Monday so i still have time ^_^
