For those of you who don't know I've recently joined <First Aid Charity>, who provide cover of all levels to sporting events, public events and anywhere that large groups of people congregrate to supplement the ambulance service.

Our uniform (at pretty much all times) will always have a very bright + reflective Hi Viz jacket that says exactly who we are and what we do.

So, New Years Day there I was at <Sporting Event> when a call comes in for an elderly collapsed female and off we dash.

Upon arrival at the very busy bar we find that the lady has fainted, and now come around. For various reasons we decide that the best course of action is to assist her in walking her back to the First Aid Point. We grab two police officers and a steward and ask them to help us with the crowd to get her out, they walk on in front clearing a path while two collegues closer to the lady's stature assist her when the following happens.

(Just so it's clear, we have little old lady, either side of her is a collegue in full uniform and me behind carrying kit bags and paperwork)

Me : Me
Dense Chap : DC
Awsome Collegue : AG

*DC stops infront of everyone*
AG: 'Scuse me
DC: *no reaction*
AG: Excuse me, can we get through.
DC: *no reaction*
Me: SIR! We need to get through
DC: *no reaction*
Me : (now a little annoyed) *Looks DC in the eye* SIR! WE NEED TO GET THROUGH!
DC: *looks at with a 'yeah right' look on his face*
Me: MEDIC COMING THROUGH, MOVE!!11!!!ELEVENTY!!!
DC: Oh, sorry *smirks and moves*

Now I know we're not everyone's favourite but it was pretty obvious that we weren't just trying to get to the bar!

People like that make me angry. They act as if no-one else is important and never put it in perspective. That woman could have died and she was someone's significant other, or a mother, or even a grandmother, someone's best friend,someone's teacher, or even an inspiration to someone's life. How would they like it if someone had blocked them from getting the help they need?

Keep in mind, I'm not wishing it upon them. Just saying, how would they feel?

This is probably the same kind of asshole that tries to race the ambulance/fire truck to his turn at the light so they don't have to stop. I hope they reserve a SPECIAL kind of karma punishment for these people.

personally... in my opinion medic coming through and idiot not moving means idiot gets forcibly moved out of the way.

He would have done but I was behind the casualty and the other two staff were supporting them [the casualty] so we weren't in a situation to do that.
