  • Wherein fish becomes beef

I'm posting this for a friend. She's working at McDonalds.

    Friend: Friend
    SC: Customer
Mgr: ONLY reason I'd ever work at McDonalds

SC: Can I get a filet-o-fish with no meat on it?
Friend: Uh, it has fish, not meat
    SC: Oh, then a hamburger
    Friend: Okay, just the hamburger?
SC: No, give me the filet
Friend: Okay, so just a filet-o-fish then?
    SC: Yes, please
    Friend: Okay, that'll be $_
    SC: [Pays]
Friend: Here's your sandwich, thank you for visiting McDonalds
    SC: Why did I get a filet-o-fish?
Friend: Uh, thats what you ordered
SC: Just give me a hamburger
    Friend: Okay, that'll be $_
SC: No, I wanted a hamburger not a filet
Friend: Oh, let me get the manager
    Manager: Whats the problem?
SC: I want a hamburger, but got a filet
    Manager: What did you order?
    SC: A filet
Manager: And what did you get?
    SC: A filet
Manager: I don't see any problem, if you want a hamburger it'll be $_

Yes, I told my friend about this site, but I doubt she'll join.

Yeah, but most people consider "meat" to be animal/bird meat, and fish to be fish meat, even though they could both be considered "meat".

But not bacon. Bacon is not meat, it's a condiment. Mmmm...bacon.

Bacon is a food group in this house.

If I'm deciding on what to cook for dinner and I already have my vegetables, bread, and dessert picked out and there's a slab of salmon in the freezer, guess what? That's our meat. We don't need to have steak or chicken along with it. The SC sounds either very stupid or confused. Or both.

Besides, I don't consider that flappy brown thing found in McDonald's standard hamburgers to be meat anyways

I know it's not exactly the same, but it reminded me of one time when I went to Chili's.

Me: I'll have a chicken fajita pita
              Waiter: Chicken or Beef?
              Me: ....? Uhm... chicken...

I know it was a brain fart, but I almost said beef just to see what would happen. It cracked me up though!

Whoa there, I agree that customer was way confusing. I consider fish a type of meat, fish-meat if you will. If the customer asked for the fish filet without meat I would've responded "You just want a bun?"

Maybe, for some bizarre reason, she thought she was getting filet mignon?

Yes, yes, I know it's Mickey Ds, but that's all I can come up with for that exchange!

Meat is the flesh of an animal, usually muscle tissue.

Chickens, cows, pigs, and fish are all animals. Thus, their flesh is meat.

OT, but this reminded me of a comedian I heard a few years ago:

"Did you hear that McDonalds switched from styrofoam to cardboard? You figure they'll eventually use meat!"

Back on topic - wtf? They ordered a fish fillet and expected a hamburger??? My head hurts from that...

I have a friend who doesn't eat meat except for seafood. His reason is, "fish don't have souls, so it's ok to eat them."

I used to have a friend that would go to the local burger joint and ask for a cheeseburger but without the meat. He really did want only the bread, cheese and veggies. This was before vegetarianism was common, and cheese/veggie sandwiches were not readily available. (So I'm old...)
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.
