Happy (late) New Year guys! I'm still saving for a new laptop, so my visits are going to be brief, but SC filled!
So, it's New Years Eve, and the bar is DEAD. My bar is located on the outskirts of town, so we are only busy early in the evening. All the customers usually leave us at 10pm and continue on into town for a street party on New Years Eve.
It was near midnight, and we had FOUR customers. A regular customer and three of his friends. Now, I do not like this man in the slightest. He is way too big for his boots. He walks in, and no matter how busy we are, he demands we drop everything for him. He has never done anything that warrents getting banned, but he is constantly miserable and making snide, passive aggressive comments towards the staff. I remember when I first got made manager, his eyebrows nearly hit the roof and he started making comments about how the bar was going under and that we should be having a staff clearout, not promoting people.
So yeah, he's an asshole.
It was horribly quiet, so the staff we basically chilling. We were having a few new years drinks behind the bar (not enough to get wasted though
) We had music playing, everything was closed down and we were having a really good night. We weren't ignoring the four customers in the slightest. We were providing them table service and were being friendly and chatty.
Regular customer waves co-worker over.
RC: I just want you to know...you have RUINED our new year!
CW: What? Why? How?
RC: Where are all the other people? Where's the atmosphere? We came in here for celebrate new year and have a good time, and all we get is an empty bar and six obnoxious members of staff messing around!
CW: Well, I'm sorry you feel that way, but we've got music playing, you are not getting ignored, we're providing you with great service. What more do you want?
RC: Your attitude is disgusting. You ruin our new year and you speak to us like that??
CW: Well tell me what you want me to do to make this better?
RC: I want people! I want an atmosphere!
CW: Well, the people have left! They've all gone into town to celebrate!
RC: Don't give me your fucking excuses. You're fucking shit. SHIT! I TELL YOU! SHIT!
All the staff heard this, and we were stunned. The guy has been pompus and rude towards us before, but we had never seen this. Co-worker went to walk away. The next thing we knew, the entire group stood up and started screaming abuse like "YOU'RE FUCKING SHIT!!" "YOU SHOULD BE FIRED!!" "YOU'RE ALL FUCKING IDIOTS!!" and "YOU RUINED NEW YEARS EVE!!"
Did I mention that these people were also pensioners?
My boss walked over.
Boss: The only thing that's fucking shit in here are your manners. Now get out. You're all banned.
RC: What? But it's nearly midnight! We won't get to anywhere else in time!
Boss: Well you should have thought about that beforehand.
Boss took their drinks off them and escourted them to the doors. He slammed them in their faces, locking the door.
It was five minutes to midnight...
