Well, so I finally got back into my dry goods department and I am assigned to stock dog food. I am by myself for the time being due to hours being cut. We have a store network that involves red customer assistance phones and the ability to call any company store.
I received a phone call from another store that wanted me to go check on a knife. I am across the store, but I say I think I remember having that knife in camouflage. Now, we have this trainee manager who seemed nice. No idea what her name was but she is standing in the aisle listening to this customer talk. I figure she knows him.
This customer is sort of the stereotypical psycho, I hate to say. He is bald, huge glasses, shot, and he is ranting. Well, I cut through with my work phone on my ear because I didn't realize my other manager is in the aisle working. Another coworker is working on holiday clearance, but she is ducking behind a pod so he may or may not know she is there.
So I go and find the upc of the similar knife. I am on the way back and he is ranting about freedom, the government, kids threatening to stab him, and being locked up in his house for ten years. I am curious because I notice the dead-eyed expression in my manager's face so I cut across the aisle to talk with Nelda.
I believe that might have set him off. He starts demanding to know if I am checking up on him and whether he is being a good boy. I say no in reference to the first question but he takes it as an answer to the second question. He starts asking if I am going to tell on him and I tell him that I am trying to get back to work. Well, he quickly starts moving on and my manager tells me to keep to the back wall and he apologizes for the psychoness.
If he had ever been in the store before, he would have seen me because I work about six days a week during that time period.
