Male customer: mc
me: me
mc: "I'm here for new student orientation."
me: "It is a $5.00 flat rate to exit Visitor Parking."
mc: "Admissions told me they will give me a token."
me: "Ok"
I raise the gate for him to enter the garage
Several hours later the phone inside the booth rings. I look up, & there is a black car at the exit gate.
me: "Visitor Parking booth. How may I help you?"
mc: "I was here for new student orientation, & I need to leave to drop someone off."
me: "Ok, you need to guy a token to exit the garage. It is $5.00 to exit the garage."
mc: "The people upstairs at new student orientation gave us tokens to use."
Ok, so you have a token to use
me: "Ok, you need to use your token to exit, & then you need another one to exit after returning."
Male customer speaks to female customer sitting in the passenger seat
mc: "But, they will not give us the token until after orientation ends."
me: "I'm sorry, but anyone needing to exit has to buy a token for $5.00"
mc: "Can I leave & use my token after returning?"
me "I'm sorry, but there are no in & out priveleges. Anyone needing to exit the garage has to buy a $5.00 token to exit."
mc: "Can't you just let me out?"
me: "I'm sorry, but I cannot raise the gate for anyone wanting out for free."
mc: "It's an emergency"
Ok, so you are dropping off someone, & you tell me it's an emergency after 1) I tell you that you need to buy a $5.00 token to exit, 2) I tell you that you need another one after returning, & 3) after you tried to convince me twice to let you out for free, but I would not.
I'm wondering if there really was an emergency. I still cannot let you out for free.
me: "I'm sorry, but I cannot bend the rules for anyone."
mc: "So I need to pay $5.00 to exit."
me: "Yes, everytime"
I tell him where to pay. He finally backs up & pays.
Then he returns, & I remind him that no one gets free parking.
