  • Ummm, hello? There are cameras, you dingleberry

Setup for the scene, which didn't happen to me, thank goodness.

Woman is playing blackjack. Decides she needs to go to the bathroom. Stacks her chips up, and leaves them on the table to mark her seat, has the dealer mark her spot off. SOP so far.

Dealer gets tapped off the table to go to break while woman is gone. Relief dealer begins dealing. Again, SOP.

At this point, things swerve off. Man comes over to table, picks up woman's chips, and walks off. Yes, he flat out stole them right in plain sight, I guess hoping the dealer didn't know a woman had been playing there.

Supervisor sees this, calls Security and Surveillance.

Tape is rolled back, guy is seen taking chips.

Guy is caught by Security officers, and escorted out to a waiting police car.

    Woman gets money back.

Did he honestly not think that a camera would be seeing every move he made? I mean, the bubbles for them are only all over the place!
    Dealer hits... 21. Table loses.

This happens more often than most people want to believe.

doesn't really suprise me much. at a casino you attract irrationally greedy people who think they will win a million bucks and others looking for a quick buck. hence all the security needed to keep people from stealing from other guests or the house.

        Wow. Some people are incredible.

And I don't mean that in a good way.

Standard Operation Procedure, but Protocol works too.

What an idiot. That's like how people got fired in the cage I work in. We have long sleeves and the idiots would slide chips down them. Ever looked up in a cage? There are TONS of cameras.

One customer said to me: I don't know how you do it--I'd be in jail if I worked here.
I looked at him like wtf. Dude, I am sooo sick of money by the end of the day. It's my merchandise. Nothing more. Money makes me sick lol Unless the money is mine.

It's not entirely irrationa. Sure there are cameras everywhere but keeping someone looking at all of them all the time would be cost prohibitive. The principle purpose of cameras is to gether evidence, to resolve a disupte on the spot or in court. ]

I'm sure he was counting on someone looking where someone was actually doing someghing and getting out the door before the woman returned.

One time, after I had started cashiering, the family and I went out to eat. I paid, but when the woman behind the counter handed me my change, I cringed and didn't want to touch it. I was that sick of money being handed to me.
