It was a slow day yesterday. The MOD went to the bank to make a drop, leaving me alone in the store. Not long after she left, a woman came in. I was in the front of the store (there is a bar behind me seperating the broken register from the sales floor), hanging clothes. The woman goes all the way around the registers and comes up behind me on the other side of the bar.
SC- "ARE YOU HIRING!?!"
Me- "No, Mam and we are out of applications. If you leave your name and number I can have the manager contact you when a possition becomes-"
SC- "WHATEVER. YOU HAVE TO SIGN THIS PAPER SAYING I AXED (yes, axed) YOU FOR A JOB." *Throws a piece of paper at me.*
Now, there is nothing on this lined piece of notebook paper except two signatures, that looked a lot alike but were different names. Warning bells- scammer!
Me- "I am sorry, Mam, but I am not author-"
SC- "JUST SIGN THE PAPER. I"M GOING TO PUT IT ON ANOTHER FORM."
Me- "I will not sign the paper as I am not authorized to do so. You will have to wait for the store manager."
SC- "I AIN'T WAITING FOR NO MANAGER. IF YOU DON'T SIGN THIS PAPER THEN I'M LEAVING AND I'LL CALL AND REPORT YOU."
Me- (At this point I am tired of being yelled at by this scammer and since there is no one else in the store...) Go ahead. The manager will not sign it because it is not the proper form. Have a nice day. *I keep my front to her- never, ever turn your back on a SC, and grab the microphone and make a security call.*
SC- "GO TO HELL, BITCH." *Storms out*

One of the offices owned by this franchise is located in the same strip mall as an unemployment office. Yes, they run into the same nonsense as AriGriffin--never mind that this is basically seasonal work and by January 15th, every office has more than enough--we cut the deadwood as the season progresses.

Unemployment (as opposed to welfare) claimants have to interview at a minimum of places to keep their benefits going.

SC- "I AIN'T WAITING FOR NO MANAGER. IF YOU DON'T SIGN THIS PAPER THEN I'M LEAVING AND I'LL CALL AND REPORT YOU."

I'll bite, to whom is she planning to report you?

I am guessing she was going to report me to either the store or district manager, who (after I told them what happened), said the woman was banned from the store for harrassing and attempting to scam an employee.

I get a lot of those types...Most don't even ask if you're hiring. They just stuff the paper in your face and demand a signature.

Either that or they are a (for want of a better term) a 'protected class' with some loudmouthed activists who are all too happy to demand that they get away with it.
