  • mumble mumble beer?

I seriously don't know what was up with people today. Almost everyone who sat at my table started out grumpy, or drunk, or a combination of the two.

    mumbler

I had one guy at my table that was so drunk he was unintelligible. He'd mumble something then look at me and mumble something else. He didn't seem to have any rhyme nor reason for his hits and stays and such. Then he places a bet with a $0.50 chip on top, and I inform him that he can't bet that there (since if he gets a blackjack we don't have $0.25 chips and can't pay him properly for it) so a few seconds later I hear him mumble something like "this is garbage I throw it away" and then throw the chip into the pit. A supe sees the chip go flying and comes over to figure out what happened, I tell her that he threw it into the pit. She picks it up and gives it back to him, and gives him another chance to not be an idiot. No more than 5 minutes later he pitches 2 more chips (one $5 chip too!) into the pit and all I understand out of him when the supe comes over asking what happend is "mumble mumble beer?"

Because yes, drunk man, we are going to still serve you and allow you to stay even after you've proven that you are in no state to walk let alone gamble.

Needless to say security was called and buddy was escorted out.

    Lose your money and leave!

I don't know what it was about this guy, but he pissed me off. Just his mannerisms and the way he talked. He would throw up his chips when he wanted a colour change. And I just got the impression that he didn't think much of me. I later saw him reaming out a woman who looked to be his wife, or another family member, in a way that suggested it happened often.
I don't know every so often I get feelings about people, even from them doing the smallest things that are mildly rude, and I instantly don't like them. Maybe I'm weird like that I don'g know. But I just silently wish they lose their money and leave, of course these are the people who magically get on a winning streak, or have the bottomless wallets.

I don't gamble, but I would be lying if I claimed I had never drunkenly uttered the phrase "mumble mumble beer." Though certainly not any time recently. Especially not this very week, as a matter of fact.

Trust that instinct. You have it for a reason. Once in a very long while, you might get fooled and avoid someone who's actually perfectly nice, but that's not worth the risk of the 99 other psychos.

(We had an orchard when I was a kid. My dad hired seasonal workers to pick the fruit - at that time it was mainly students from Quebec having working holidays. Dad would make sure that my sister and I, with the dog, were somewhere nearby although not directly in contact with the people. If ANY of us started to act uncomfortable with a person, he would not hire them. Only once did he ignore me & the dog - and that guy turned out to be trouble).
