  • wherin smiley proposes an annoyance charge

Let me just say to start, there are people who are annoying who aren't sucky... this guy though, was not one of those people.

First off he drunk dialed the desk 3 times in a 2 hour period.
Second, he was traveling on business and made an inappropriate pass on his female roommate (yeah, I know, bad idea to have them staying in the same room anyway, but moving on).
Third, after said female roommate changed rooms (btw, requiring that I go up and lay down the law, specifically that I was helping her to her new room and if he followed us I would evict him from the property... he got as far as the next room before I turned around and told him that he better just be dizzy and lost his sense of direction back to his room because I have no problem with dialing police dispatch) he came down to the desk to ask me which room she was in (um, no way in hell am I telling you that).
Fourth, he's a smoker, which in and of itself isn't bad, and he has been able to keep himself together enough to smoke outside, so far, he's still an ass for throwing cigerette butts in the bushes rather than the ash tray thingy (not sure what those big trash can sized sand filled things would be called) that he was standing right next to.
Fifth, he ran into our glass door... now I have to clean a face print off the door, when it's 30 degrees outside... thanks dick.
Sixth, he ran into the lady he had been rooming with in the lobby, of course this is the point when I beep the shuttle driver for him to come to the lobby, just in case, and he tries to apologize to her... by making another inappropriate pass... sweet jesus guy, get a clue.

sadly, I will probably have to edit to add as the night progresses.

eta- damnit I knew there'd be an ETA
Seventh- he came to the desk, demanding that I tell him where the lady was... dude, give it up already

Oh, and the reason for my title... I did after the 3rd drunk dialing tell him that if he continued to drunk dial the front desk I was going to add a $10 annoyance charge to his room... he won't remember it in the morning when he's sober and it got him to stop calling

Wow, I would love to have that to charge for some of the rez students here. It would be ever so helpful

That's where not having advertised pricing is great. I can get away with charging extra to someone who is being annoying/stupid. Even got the boss to follow along, and now we call it the stupidity charge.

Of course, we don't say it to the customers faces.

That one sounds not all bad. Hopefully he's wiping a door print off his face.

Plus- surely there's a decent chance he's going to lose his job. Doesn't sound like the woman's the sort to keep quiet (thankfully) and she'll have to explain to her bosses if she's claiming back the seperare room charges.

Did you tell her he kept asking for her new room number ? She really ought to know that, and that you could probably back her up if her bosses give her any trouble over paying for the second room.

We call the large and strangely invisible outdoor cigarette thingies ash cans.

Call the face print art. First in a series, blahblah......

I devoutly hope the lady takes this up with HR when she gets back.

actually she already has... she was talking to her HR supervisor this morning as I was about to get off work... she was asking for our fax number and about whether or not we could print documents for her... methinks this guys ass is already grass.

Not trying to be a smartass here (for once), but most people I know just call them ashtrays.

We used to have ashtrays like that at my restaurant. No one ever used them they just threw their cigs in the landscaping. Then one night someone stole both of them. Now we've started using a different kind of mulch that often catches fire from the still lit cigs in the summer time.

On the bright side, you can be sure she'll probably be filing sexual harassment charges with their boss when they get back and he'll hopefully be out of a job.

Personally, I didn't think number five was all that sucky. Instead, it was submitted for our amusement It helped that I envisioned Mr. Drunk-ass ricocheting off the glass in a spectacular fashin.

                          OMG yeah.

Or better yet... If you want to go that far, have her call the boss and tell boss that "yeah the hotel employee wants to talk to you about Jerkoff's harassing behavior"

Then give boss the list of what Jerkoff did, including trying to make passes at her, follow you to her new room, and repeatedly calling you asking for the new room number even after being threatened with police action.

I'm sure the boss will want to know why he has to pay for two rooms instead of one anyway!

either that or... if Jerkoff had called, you could always lie and give him a number to call and say "yeah her new phone number is XXX-XXXX" ... but really it's the number to the local police!
then when Jerkoff calls and gets the police instead of the girl he wants to force himself on... it just might scare him enough to straighten him out.

tho i'm sure the police won't like being prank called... but you could always lie and say you didn't give him the number. hell he's drunk... right?

Nice idea, Pepper, but generally speaking, when one hotel room is calling another within the same hotel, you just have to dial the room number. When dialing an outside line, you usually have to do something like dialing 9 and then the full number. I know the dude was drunk, but I wonder if he really would have fallen for that.
