  • Just Don't

It's been quiet at work, they hired oodles of part timers who are fielding 99% of the customer service calls without actually knowing anything about our products, our policies or having the slightest idea how the business works. I don't care, I just care that they have to deal with the stupid and I can keep on selling. Less customer service calls = a lot more money in sales.

However, if you have an issue with a company please do not call up said company and lie, telling me you are a Better Business Bureau employee and demand to speak to a supervisor. Why? Because I have Google, Whitepages, Caller ID and the smarts enough to search and prove you are a freaking liar before I tell you that you are a freaking liar.

We do it all the time here at the homestead for numbers that come up with "Private Caller" or "Out of Area" or whatever else the telemarketers are trying to squeeze by with. Doesn't always work but I imagine the BBB wouldn't screen theirs anyway.

Most of the time calls come up as 'anonymous' on our dashboards but it does display the number. It's common practice where I work when someone strays into twatwaffly territory to reverse search their phone number, jot down the details and turn it in to management. We've had people occasionally arrested for harassment or threats or management circulates the name/phone number to everyone on the sales floor in memo detailing to just hang up on the individual without talking to them. Someone masquerading as a BBB employee trying to scare us into doing something contrary to stated business policy isn't uncommon. Look 'em up with reverse search and say, "Uh, are you Mr Joe Blow of 2121 Intercourse Ave in MethHeadCity, Ma? I am showing that the BBB in your town isn't located at your home address.. have a nice day.. click"
